Elmer_fudd68
Hi, Wondered if any one can help me with this. I'm shooting bunnies on a local farmers land at present with a Crossman ratcatcher with a 3-9 x 40 scope and have good head shot kills at up to 25-30yrds. Would like to get some shots with more distance than i do at the mo. I thinking of getting something with a bit more oomph! Think the Crossman is about 8/9lbs with a new CO2 Looking for a rifle up to the legal limit of 12lbs Got a budget of around £300ish Not sure what make to go for or which is better, spring or charged? The charge system i find confusing. Do you use a foot pump or fill it with a cylinder or screw in a bigger version of the CO2 catridges like i use in the Crossman? Also what do the charging extras cost roughly? I want a .22 Just waiting for my shotgun license to arrive, but i think a shottie is a bit much for bunnies and would taint the meat by hitting the guts (lots of my friends like rabbit!) so i think an air rifle upgrade is the answer. Would it pay me to invest in some camo gear (jacket, trousers) as well? Thanks in advance for any advice Happy hunting

johnbaz
ditto with what tweedledee said, weihrauch are superb and eminently able of the longer range shots as long as your aim is steady enough john
scout
weinrach springer or a second hand air arms 410 with a stirrup pump. Both great bits of kit an in the right hands deadly out to 45 yards. Get some cheap DPM camo or similar and practice your field craft. Hope this helps

astraman1
some info for you there are spring rifles which work with springs to as you can imagine there are co2 like your ratty and there is precharged which is basically a cylinder on your rifle full of compressed air it can be filled with a hand pump or from a diving bottle
SharpShooter14
If you go for a PCP, then i wouldn't bother with buying a pump or cylinder for it. Just take it to your local gunshop each time you get low on air and get a fillup for £1.

manthing
Just paid £350 for my HW97k combo. got it with this job in mind shoots sweet as a nut (once bedded in as all new guns need to be). you will be hard pressed to get a new pcp for that money I think, but dont stop looking on my account. a nice 2nd hand from a shop or respectable person ( some one you can enquire about for example)should come in under that price. but then you need to fid a gun or dive shop that has a filling rig or a pump, which will keep you fit but you will need to fill the cylinder a while b4 you go to your shoot. :yp: look in the air gun mags for an idea of the stuff thats available. any of the branded makes will be 11-12flb which is just the job. dont think SMK or such are upto the job but i have no practical knowledge of the cheaper forign guns on the market. hope this helps.
