dave1372
Nial, Where abouts do you stay? You could speak to Alan who runs the clay shoot (Claybusters) at Arniston Estate shooting ground just outside Gorebridge he has some good contacts he can get you cartridges delivered to his shoot and his gunsmith picks up and delivers guns to the shoot for repairs etc when he is over this way delivering clays etc. Dave

He recommended a guy the far side of Galsgow .... http://www.pro-shooting.co.uk/ ..but I didn't realise he'd pick guns up from the shoot. The problem with my gun is that the top lever doesn't always stay open so you have to open it some times as you close the gun. It's no big thing and I'm mad keen as I've just started so don't want to lose the gun for a week or two right now to get it fixed. I'll maybe get it sorted as the winter gets colder/wetter. Alan recommended Mains in Haddington for cartridges, he said that Hull Comp X's are best value for money right now. Where's best to get clothing locally? I need a decent pair of wellies, is there anywhere in central Scotland, this side of Glasgow, that has a good stock to try a few different ones on? Thanks again, Nial. Jonno243
Nial, If you are looking for clothing / equipment (and indeed anything related to shooting) you could do a lot worse than Bushwear in Stirling (www.bushwear.co.uk), they are internet based mainly but they have just opened a shop attached to their unit. As an RFD they can also sell you ammo. From Edinburgh you could be there in about 45mins. With regards gun repairs / gunsmithing, I honestly reckon the best you can do is Mark at Dickson & McNaughton in Dunkeld (in the grounds of the Dunkeld Hilton). All of our company guns, the estate guns and our personal guns are looked after by him. Hell of a nice guy also. ATB. Jonno.
Nial
Thanks for the feedback guys, I'd hoped for closer than Stirling. Having said that I haven't been to Stirling for a while and our wee girls (4.5 and 6) would probably believe there's a princess lives in the castle, time for a family trip I think. Nial.
