Paul223
You would have to do a 1 for 1 variation to free the slot up
tulkyuk
Also you can change one calibre for another as a 1 for 1 variation - dont let your FAO tell you any different, but you will have to get another variation if you want the original caliber on your ticket at a later date. slarti54
And if it's a calibre for calibre swap and you notify them within 7 days it's free.
tulkyuk
Only need to notify them of a sale or purchase of a firearm within 7 days, not for a variation. a 1 for 1 variation has no fee, no matter how long it takes for you to decide Edited because of my spelling Edited September 8, 2008 by tulkyuk
CharlieT
And if it's a calibre for calibre swap and you notify them within 7 days it's free. A 1 for 1 is foc even if you change caliber.
triscrx
Thats what I thought its only if you add an additional calibre i.e go from .22/.17 and then apply for .223 then you have to pay. If you had the .223 already on there but sold it and wanted the .223 replaced with a .243 it would be free as there would still be 3 slots. Its the additional gun slot you pay for correct me if im wrong?

CharlieT
Once you sell your .22rf you can't just go out and buy another rifle. To buy another you have to apply for authority to do so. What you have to do is to complete form 101 and apply for a variation to acquire another. This has to be done within 7 days of disposing of your current one. As has been said such a variation (a 1 for 1) is free. What you can do however is to apply for a variation before you sell your current one, they will then send your fac back to you with authority to acquire and issue you with a temporary permit allowing you to have your current .22rf (but not use it) until you have made arrangements to sell it. You then notify the police when you have bought the new one and sold the old one as per usual practice.
hawkeye
Might be wrong but i believe you have to apply for a 1-1 variation first... :look: Posted same time as charlie T Edited September 9, 2008 by hawkeye
