Nial
OK, so obviously horizontal sleet isn't going to encourage anything to fly, but is there good and bad weather for shooting pigeons? Very warm, still summer days with not a cloud in the sky? 'Normal' days with a bit of wind and cloud cover? Wet weather where it's raining a bit but not chucking it down? Anyone got any good or bad experiences? The reason I'm asking these questions is I was out last weekend _not_ shooting pigeons. It was a very warn still day, I don't think my hide was great and I think I moved too soon on the very odd bird that was about. _Nothing_ came into the decoys in about 4 hours. Nial. Cranfield
I prefer a dull, cloudy, chilly day with a brisk wind. The wind seems to keep pigeons on the move and does deaden gunshots. I hate hot, still, sunny days, when the flies are gently buzzing round your head and a light aircraft slowly drones by....zzzzzz, zzzzz, zzzzzz, many are the peaceful dozes I have had in the hide in those conditions. If it is raining hard, or heavy rain is threatened, I don't bother going. Intermittent showers can be good conditions, especially on stubbles. It was actually quite nice to be sitting in a field instead of in front of a computer, but I wouldn't have minded a few pigeons to have a go at. Nial. anser2
I agree with Cranfield. Sport in rain on on still days is usualy poor. A breezy day with a bit of cloud can be good , but even warm sunny days can produce good shooting as long as there is a good breeze.
Mitch
The last time I went when it was sunny/warm I found a nice spot in the bushes (no comments please !!) flies were a pain, got bitten everywhere, found about 3feet to my left someone had kindly left a captains log, complete with bog roll, soiled. Put me right off my butties. Won`t be sitting there again !!!
AndyBaz
Wind and cloud works for me, but take them as they come and you will be surprised.

Harnser
I like to look at the barometer ,and look for the low pressure days . I find that pigeons and all birds seem to like low pressure days . If accompanied by dull overcast skys and a brisk wind ,you should be in . Harnser .
