Hi there

Firstly to introduce myself - my name is Claire Braden and I am a first-time director who has just been commissioned my first half hour film. I am making it about people who are very good at saving money and being frugal. The reason I have come on this site is because I want to find someone who can show me how they largely survive without going to spend money in supermarkets etc. Do any of you know of anyone who largely lives off shooting their own meat and possibly growing their own veg? I want to find a true country man or woman who can take me in to the countryside and show me how to live off the land.

I am featuring 4 or 5 people in the half hour film - so it is just a 5 minute portrait of someone who has achieved this way of living. I would love it if you could put me in touch with them. Please PM me on here - or add a post.

Thanks for your help - please do let me know about anyone suitable and then they can decide if it is for them or not.

Claire

Hi there

I am afraid channel 4 do not allow us to hand over editorial control - however we do want everyone who collaborates with the film to be happy with their piece. So we talk through what we are going to film and work together to make something that is representative of the participant's life. I am a documentary maker so the intention is to build up a level of trust with people who are in my films and I have never shown someone the film and for them not to be happy with it. This is a pretty tame production which will just portrait different people's frugal ways of living.

I hope that answers your question, all the best,

Claire

Thanks Claire,

I`m sorry to sound so sarcastic but I`ve had experience of "journalists" before. Sadly, your reply confirmed what I had initially suspected, namely that the final portrayal of the subject is entirely in your hands and those of your parent company.

I wish you every success in your venture but we have`nt known each other long enough for me to entrust you with a portrayal of the various sports that I hold dear. I`m not for one minute suggesting that you personally might misrepresent anything, but my having no power of veto over what you choose to portray or the commentary that accompanies it is too big a leap of faith.

Good luck with your project.

clair ,

I am sure that you will find somebody to take part in your film . But i dont think that you will get the right person or persons . The true countryman and shooter have been let down and have been portrayed as rural thugs who go about the countryside desimating the wild life . I do not have a very good opinion of reporters when it comes to the subject of shooting . Harnser .

Spot on.

Unfortunately most telly these days is the "car crash" variety - sit back and watch the obviously staged disaster unfold - participants set up and edited to look like mugs.
