soreshoulder
ust had a phonecall from my FEO and i said had he looked over my application. He said yes and then he said about my security of which i imformed him was being sorted. Then he suddenly came out with you cannot acess to firearms and somebody would have to keep them for me but when i rang the basc, i talked to the head of the firearms department and he said i could be gifted firearms and ammunition and then i said "but the basc informed me" yada yada yada. Then he said that glos firearms department had different rules from other counties. Are they allowed to make there own rules and regulations?? from the ho guidance A person under seventeen is prohibited by section 22 of the 1968 Act from purchasing or hiring any firearm or ammunition defined by sections 57(1) and (2) of that Act, or as defined by section 1 of the 1982 Act (readily convertible replicas). This includes convertible imitation firearms, smooth-bore guns, air weapons, shot cartridges, blank ammunition and pellets for air weapons. There are ways that they can legitimately acquire (for example, by accepting these as a gift or by borrowing) the firearms and ammunition exempted from sections 1 and 2 of the 1968 Act (that is, air 'those under the age of seventeen and over the age of fourteen need not be supervised at all times.' henry d
Firstly, take a deep breath and type slowly........... now, the BASC , of which I believe you re a member, are the best people to sort this. Not withstanding a few here are qualified to give an answer, however the majority will give you their support and a laymans answer. MY laymans answer is to get BASC on the case for you, as they have fought and won in mine. Best wishes
dunganick
Ive had similar problems with shotguns before i was 17 (got accused of buying a shotgun, when it was gifted) - Basc sorted this. I also was Gifted a .22lr aged 17. Basc is your best bet, im afraid this FEO is making things up. (assuming everything ive read and understand is correct)
Lloyd90
Cant seem to get my head around what your saying, slow down lol. Start with the problem. Your under 17 ? You have applied for a SGC ? The FEO says you can have the application ? BUT you cant get a shotgun ? (Seems a bit contradicting!) If this is so (I think its what you were getting at) then you should probally check into it first (Dont want to annoy the FEO, might put ur app back to the bottom of the pile lol) But if this is so contacting BASC and checking your options is probally a good idea, then see if you need to get them involved! Best of luck mate!
dustyfox
Are you getting your SGC? You can get shotguns given to you but you cant buy them, is there any chance that you can get BASC to phone him up??? If you think there is a chance of you not getting it join SACS, they can help and pay for your appeal. BASC is good at giving good information but they will be useless if you have to appeal and you aint got the money to pay for it.
