Big Angus
On Sat 01/01/05 the first salmon of the season was caught by a 14 year old boy, on the river Lennon Co. Donegal. The fish weighed in at 8lbs. The fish was caught on a silver tobby. Well done to that young man.

Fisherman Mike
Thats more like it . I remember my first salmon a 14lb fresh run cock fish from the Wye on a prawn. Strained every sinew in my 13 year old body. That lad will never forget that moment. Well done indeed. FM.

Aled_cky
good luck M.Robson that lad must be chuffed.. never seen salmon before, but is it roughly the same size as Sea Bass? Aled
Big Angus
Aled it depends on the size of the sea bass and the time of year you catch the salmon.

millo2
isnt the record salmon something like 50 pound?
Big Angus
Millomite. The answer to your question is. Miss G.W. Ballantine holds the British Record rod caught salmon of 64lbs. Which she took from the river Tay in October 1922. And has still to be beaten.

Big Angus
Millomite, and for the record, on the 22nd of October 1924 a Mrs Robinson caught a fish of 61lbs. And as far a i can remember there was also another female a caught a record size fish round about the same time. Us males must be doing something wrong. Or we are just using the wrong tackle.
