steve_b_wales
These photo's are of my Sako 75 with Cobra Merlin Nv monocular attached to my scope. I have added an IR filter to my Blazerlite lamp for added IR light. I haven't tried it out in the field yet but it looks promising. The scope, lamp and monocular are all great when used individually, so together, they should be brilliant. steve_b_wales
Believe it or not, it does not add that much weight on the rifle. Most of the weight was on the barrel end anyway, owing to the T8 moderator and bipod, so it actually balances it a bit. The rifle will be used (when lamping) on sticks. I would have liked to try it out tonight but its pouring down. the downside to the NV monocular is that it's not waterproof, but I've got plans for that as well. Newsportshooter
Have you had to move your scope forward 3inch or so to accomodate the monocular or are you planning on craining your head way back to suit the eye relief. From the photo's it looks like you are going to have a pretty uncomfortable time with it 'as is'... But full marks for initiative
steve_b_wales
I have left the scope in it's 'normal' position because I also use it without the NV. It is a bit uncomfortable moving my head back off the stock, but this is only for a minute or two. I plan to, either have my mate use another NV monocular to scan the ground, or I will use my NV to scan first then attach it to my scope, which takes about 8 seconds. Evil Elvis
Ive done a similar thing with my nv works a treat....question though, wouldnt mounting the lamp on top make the whole thing less unweildy?
410PHIL
I too have a cobra nv but have never seen the rings to attach it to a scope where did you get them from?
steve_b_wales
The 'rings' that attach the monocular to a scope came with the one that I bought. You should be able to purchase one from anyone who sells the Cobra Merlin. It's called a DSA ( Day Scope Adaptor ) or you can get a Hinged one (HDSA) Edited November 13, 2008 by steve_b_wales
steve_b_wales
Evil Elvis. I couldn't mount the lamp on top of the scope because the adjusting screw on the lamp bracket would be too close to the reticule turret on the top.
