Topgunners
Went out yesterday on the lookout for some Pigeons and found a huge flock of 600-700 birds dropping on to some wheat stubble fields and after half an hour or so watching flight lines decided to set up in a corner of one of the fields. We sat there in anicipation of the birds returning in droves, but no such luck. Sat there having a good old chin-wag in between the odd returning bird but had only shot 6 birds after a couple of hours. Decided to pick up and go walkies for a possible pheasant or 2 but only saw 1 take off about 100 yards in front of any gun. We said our farewells and departed. Never mind. I decided to go out for a couple of hours on my own today, and as the fore-cast for afternoon was Gale Force winds and rain I expected to pick up early. This time I decided to set up on the top of the hill from yesterday's fields and as I drove up I lifted a good 1,000 plus birds. The sky was full of them and I again set up with anticipation. Windy Day Had a dozen within the 1st hour and then it went mad. They were coming in; in droves, every 5 mins or so and it was very hard to pick the shots in the Gale force winds as they were flying fast and erratic to say the least. This continued up to about 12.30pm and I started to think about packing up before the fore-casted rains arrived. I just couldn't as the Pigeons were still coming in steady but in reduced numbers ( 2-4 at atime). I cracked on and then saw a huge big black cloud in the distance behind me ; coming my way. I picked up 77 birds. 48 woody's 28 ferals and a rook. I had 11 double-deckers and 2 triples; which I was pleased with ; considering the weather conditions. Cranfield
Well done and your perseverence was rewarded. You are lucky to still have some old stubbles left, on my permissions its all gone, but the few fields I have seen are still attracting the pigeons. Topgunners
thats a cracking camera you have what make is it? The camera is a sureshot that I couple up with 2 x 4gb Sd Cards. One for stills and one for video. Uses rechargeable batteries (4 x 2800 power). I love the versatility of the camera as besides all the mega specification you can also take a still picture from within the video.
