hi ive just bought a brand new falcon and i want to put a scope on it

I have been offered a bsa contender 6-24X50

just wondering if it is any good for an air rifle and if it is worth it?

Any help much appreciated!

Right, firstly - welcome to the forum mate  .

And secondly, I have a 6-24 x 50 mounted on my FX Cyclone and it's bloody fantastic. I wind it right down for lamping, set it on around 10 for general hunting and wind it up for targets / bipoding etc.

As far as is it worth it? goes - how much is the guy asking for it?

Falcons are great guns - as already mentioned :good:

Unless your target shooting with it, I wouldn't advise it. For airgun hunting ranges you really don't need a high mag scope. You should also consider that the more money you spend on a scope the better you get. I would opt for a fixed mag scope 8x50 or similar and aim for a better quality make. You will be amazed the difference a good quality scope will make.

Hi Younggunner,

You don't say what you will use the rifle for.

If it is JUST for hunting, I recommend to go for a fixed magnification scope, such as x4, x6 or at most x 8.

Other air gun hunters I have met generally have their scope on x4 (including me) - it gives you a wide field of view, lets in a lot of light, and the fixed magnification helps you to learn to judge distances.

Also, don't pay money for illuminated recticles - your battery will always run out, and the illumination is of little use in most hunting situations, even in bad light conditions.

My next scope will be a 6x56 or 8x56 - it will do the job and you don't pay for fancy bits bolted on by clever marketing-men at an inflated price.

Much thanks guys

I think that i will be getting a BSA essential now as my dad has one on his super 10 and I just love it

Sorry about not mentioning about what i would be using it for, was a bit of a rushed posting.

Ive been waiting almost 5 weeks for this falcon now :hmm: am getting tired of waiting now haha.

BTW I would advise going into the country store in shustoke brilliant shop!

All the best

Alex
