webber
I read the accounts as the directors have received no wages? webber
PuBS
No wages or significant expenses but the accounts are exempt from audit due to limited turnover. However a claimed 9000 membership should give a minimum income of £45000 before sponsorship, merchandise sales etc.,

955i
At the risk of appearing ignorant, what is NOBS?
Mungler
Companies House is an amazing source of info. Nobs have had 3 new Directors appointed this year and if you search against their individual appointments one was a management consultant in a previous life and one was previously a vet etc etc.
al4x
they make interesting reading Do they? to me as webber says the directors have drawn no money for running it and expenses are pretty usual. If they're internet based then 10K which is the main expense is not that excessive for IT depending what they put against that category, but assuming its either hosting or servers etc you could spend that much pretty fast. They have 5 directors and to me look pretty straight up and it doesn't look like much of a money making venture. As ever if you get something from membership join up if you don't then don't join. webber
PUBS Just a thought, do NOBS claim to have 9000 paid up members? or do they claim to have 9000 members of their internet forum? webber
al4x
going up though 4k up on last year which for a home based internet business is I guess money for nothing. Its a funny set up gaining that many directors when it is in essence just charging people to use a forum so why would you want that many people involved. But looks honest enough most of the directors haven't had directorships before the two that have are probably just giving advice as they try and move it to being a more profitable company. Obviously looking at the original poster I'm assuming theres a bit of a conflict of Interests and he is trying to discredit nobs to add traffic to his website offering a similar service Edited December 24, 2008 by al4x
lurcherboy
al4x, what's your name on NOBS? LB
PuBS
Yes i operate a similar organisation but the difference is that my forum and services are totally free and it is proving successful in getting more people out on shoots. I donated funds in the first two years to NOBS and was very active in supporting its aims at shows and enrolling many shoots and members. I was suspended without the courtesy of advive from their Forum and resigned. After some thought I founded PuBS, to continue to get more people out in the countryside and link shoots and beaters etc very much supporting Mark Elliotts vision.. You dont even have to register to use it. NOBS Forum states that there are over 5021 registered users of the Forum and that NOBS has 9,000 members. I have been told that the true paid up membership is around 2,000 only. The reason I obtained copies of the accounts is that the so called members of NOBS are not given the figures - I paid a small fee and got them from Companies House - any interested persons can look them up on getitorfyerchest. I do no imply that here is any wrongdoing at all in NOBS - far from it- some work hard for the organisation for no reward - just that there is a lack of transparency in the structure of the organisation - many assumed as I did until I looked into matters, that t was a charity or association - its not its a general trading company.
