Practical shotgun

Hello,

Not sure where Neil is, but heres my two penneth;

Practical shotgun is a target sport using Section 1 shotguns (more than 2+1 cartridge capacity). Basically you shoot at steel plates, paper targets and clays and aim to knock down/put a hole though all the targets on a course of fire as fast as you can. You may be required to use birdshot, buckshot or solid slug. You may also have to move as part of the course, either along a woodland trail, in an open field or through man-made obstacles.

It began life as a way of training US police how to use shotguns more effectively but evolved into competitions between law enforcement, the military etc and then into competition between civilians. Because of its origins and the fact you actually have to move(wot wot?!) to hit some targets it has a stigma among certain shooting fraternities as being a "Rambo" sport and they think that people actually roll about the floor/jump through windows etc while firing their guns :oops: . I suspect however it more likely that the type of people who make these comments and are being serious, are people dealing with jealousy issues as they are too old/fat/unsafe/drunk on sloe gin to take part in PSG! :lol: That and you dont use walnut guns dear boy! Oh the humanity! :sly:

While it is by far the most safety conscious shooting sport it is also the most fun :good: (imho anyway - and anyone who has actually tried it!) If there is a club near you Id highly recommend you give it a go, even if you just have a Section 2 shotgun! :D
