Macnab
Got to be a crisp cold Autumn day in the Highlands setting out uphill and puffing like a ******* for the first hour as you gain height. Sound of roaring stags echoing round the glens. Putting up the odd covey of grouse that scare the **** out of you as they break from under your feet. Spotting some deer way off on a far face. After a long detour to get into the right position, then crawling low through the heather to line up the 6.5x55 on a big handsome stag that is roaring so loud you can see his breath in the cold still air. Shot cracks out and echoes for what seems like ages. Happy with the shot but the first few seconds you will him to take a few steps forward then slowly drop dead as a doornail - which he does. Try and pace it out over long heather, hags, crags and ups and downs. Comes out at about 190 yards. Shake the stalker's hand, help him with the gralloch then sit down for a well earned rest. Off with the cap and break out the piece and thermos, and probably the hipflask if you remembered it. An elated and chatty walk back down to the track behind the Argo or if this real fantasy stuff then the pony. Back to the lodge for a dram and a hot bath with the Italian beach volleyball team, oh no that is another fantasy altogether..... M
Cushat
It would have to be driven grouse with a pair of Boss 20b O/Us, and the rest of the guns made up of friends and family. Then the following day a stalk very much like Macnab just described (and definitely with the pony not the argo!). And while I'm at it, I might as well dip a fly in the water and land a decent salmon. I'm not being gready and wanting all in the same day - a long weekend would be just fine But then again, I've always fancied a day at Spanish partridges - not something I'm convinced I'd want to do more than once but certainly on the "to do before I die" list. Salop Matt
Macnab, you havent thought about it much before then ? lol Am a simple chap and would be happy with My FAC and on it: CZ 17HMR and rig CZ .22lr and rig, My current PB silver pig, a PC air rifle and the addition of a semi auto. A landrover 90 to drive some shooting land, wooded and open (about 600 - 1000 acres) And to live a long healthy life with more importantly than anything else. . . . . SP and our dogs to enjoy the above . ANything above all that would be amazing, a lottery win would see us move to a small holding somewhere remote with shooting stables and a doggy paradise. With a collection of fine boozes.

casts_by_fly
for me, I'd want a week of do it yourself camp and hunt in upper michigan or lower maine with a pair of great gundogs and a 20 bore side by side. The gun would be a side lock, about 5.5 lb, double trigger, open chokes. Something of English best quality. Of course I'd be looking for grouse and woodcock. A day in the AZ desert would be a lot of fun too, but I can't call it a dream yet since I don't have a taste for it. Same with an alaskan ptarmigan hunt. I do have a ptarmigan/spruce grouse/archery caribou hunt on my radar though. Been wanting to do all of that for a while now. Thanks, Rick

Macnab
Macnab, you havent thought about it much before then ? lol Must admit to the odd day dream at the moment while sitting at work watching the world come tumbling down around my ears..... DSC1 in a month keeping me busy with learning all sorts of stuff. Best bit is the videos/DVD's which have porno soundtracks but footage of guys gralloching deer and cutting into lymph nodes. Very odd combination and takes some explaining when the wife pops her head round the door to see if any chance she can watch Eastenders and I am lying on the sofa watching deerporn in my grundies. Hunter2
One of my dreams was to use and fire some hand guns A day across the Pond On a recent business trip to the USA I managed to get in some shooting before I left for the airport I turned up to a local shooting range with my uk driving licence and credit card The range was being used by law enforcement, security officers and joe public and a lot of guys that looked like the cover of 50 cent cd if you know what I mean. Anyway This was the line up for the couple of hours I had available. $15 for the range all day $6.00 for a gun rental yes 6 bucks for a gun rental! First I went for the Smith & Wesson 9mm fired off about 100 rounds fmj 115gr Cracking gun but I wanted to try something else so off I went another $6 and this time got a Sig sauer p229 in .40 cal had a bit of kick, so after 100 rounds using Speer Lawman 165 rounds, so I decided to try a Glock in .45 cal well this was just perfect for me using fed 185g rounds. I am now hooked. Can`t wait for my next trip. Picture below was about 17-20yrds away using the Glock So my dream would be to do the above in the UK now that’s a dream!
