zorba_the_greek
Evening all, Just took the plunge and bought myself a new Urika 2. Was told that it wouldn't hurt to put around 20 shells of 3" / 50g / 76mm RC 50 Magnum carts through it to run it in before using my normal 28g Eley firsts. Wanted to see what people think about that above idea...... If i was to do the above should i shoot them with a skeet choke?? Any feed back would be greatly appreciated
MC
It won't hurt but I wouldn't bother. My Xtrema cycled every cartridge I have ever put in it from day one. Just go out and use it normally.
steve_b_wales
As above. But you don't need to do this. Just use it as normal.
zorba_the_greek
Just to let you know i used my 28g ELEY firsts and gun ejected them perfectly. Gun feels fantastic!!! happy with 37 out of 50 first time ever shooting a semi-auto
jinxy72
just give it a good clean if brand new to remove any machine oil before u use it with anything ... then just use what u want to. the 50g's will kick like a mule too.... and dunno if ' running in ' makes any difference what so ever. stuart92
think it just softens the ejector ?
mudpatten
Have a read of the manual that comes with the gun. Full of useful information.
edr
I've got a urika 2 in synthetic for christmas, i didn't bother with 3" Magnums; the message that came across was just clean it regularly, nock the trigger mech out and dismantel the piston spring. So far since getting it i have never had a misfire or jam. Abit off topic but if clay shooting IMO never use Hull Comp X's the brass head seems "soft", bits of brass manage to get into the trigger mech and just about every where else. utectok
I put 50gm 3" carts through my berreta 686 and it doesn't half kick ok for the 8 shots a year I fire at geese but fireing a box would be painfull. I've fitted a RAD hydrolic recoil reducer I hope this tames it a bit hardly notice a 34 gm cart now!
