johnnyjitsu
Was out on my 1st night out last night going for Rabbits. WOW what a buzz. One thing my mate had was a nice Lamp kit which I am considering buying now! I noticed one with a Laser (hawke) is this ideal for Rabbit shooting or just a gimmick? I would like to keep the price down but can spend upto £100 if recommended with good reason any ideas anyone. I have a Weirach W95 spring action and a Hawke 3x9x40 Scope if that helps... Many thanks

MM
lasers sre useful for close range quick shots  so are tanks. lasers are for spaceships, and thats final
Ozzie2108
The beam from the laser travels in a straight line and your pellets travel in an arc, so for aiming purposes your point of impact and the laser dot will only be spot on once (or twice) depending on where your scope (and laser) are zeroed. You can use it as a quick method of range estimation but if you're expecting your pellet to hit smack on the laser dot, you're probably going to be disappointed a lot of the time.. Ozzy Fudd
so are tanks. lasers are for spaceships, and thats final i thought tanks were for long range battles with other tanks? or for scaring the **** out of infantry?! na, still voting yes for lasers.... Edward
Lasers are ok for plinking, or shooting rats etc but not any good for bunnie shooting
beaker
Not really worth it unless you have a good rat shoot and you keep it on your rifle all the time otherwise hassle getting it zeroed all the time i have one set at 25 yards on my .22 for fast moving rats
claybreaker
lasers are more of a gimmick . Saying that they are quite fun for plinking though.

realtreedave
ive had a love hate relationship with lasers on rifles over the past ten years.they work ok with a head mounted nv unit, not bad as a rangefinding unit, but if you have a decent scope and a good lamp you wont be wanting one ,and for daytime shooting they are pointless.if youve got money to burn and want to play then fine but dont expect a pound for pound return for what they do
Westcountryman
Some people say they help with range finding etc, but its another thing to think about and looks a bit g@y too. Fine if you are in SWAT or 3 Para Mortars, but on an air rifle?
evilstoat
The only lasers that are any good are the beamshot ones, you can get similar ones on the bay, i have had them and got rid of them, the ones i buy have a solid beam and goto about 100 yards at least, but are a pain in the *** to zero, like it's been said earlier pellets trajectory is an arch so they are not that good, people use them for ratting with good success. I think you are talking about a red dot sight, they are great for fast target aquisition, i would stick with a sensible scope that you can zoom a little with, like a 3X9X40 scope, they are great for Air Rifles and won't break the bank. No point getting something you don't really need, it's quite easy to get carried away when you first start shooting, you get into this mindset of thinking you need, this, and need that, but in theory you have the the only things you really need, the Rifle and pellets, and clothing if you stalk or sit up for Rabbits. If lamping though a decent lamp kit is a good idea obviously, but don't go for a Logun lamp they are useless, go for something that has a dimmer, incorperated in the kit, and a good sturdy looking clamp, Deben do some great lamp kits, and cater to most styles, lightweight ones, or pack ones, have a look do some research, don't just want something because your mate has one Good luck and happy Bunny bashing
