mikee
As its the last day of the season i thought i'd have a day after the chub on the river Wensum near norwich, got to the river about 9am and it looked in top form, clear with a slight green tinge and running at normal winter levels, after a quick reccy i settled for a spot just up stream of an over hanging willow bush, lobbed a good sized piece of cheese paste just above the bush and twitched it under the twigs after about 10 minutes this little 1lb chublet found the paste after about half an hour of no bites i moved down to opposite the bush and lobbed another *** of cheese past through a gap in the twigs and within 10 minutes this 4lb 4oz beauty was laying in the bottom of the net after a fairly short but hard fight after 1 more bite which i missed i moved another 15yds downstream to just below the bush and lobbed another piece of paste behind the back of the overhanging branches and sat back 20 minutes later this monster grabbed hold and fought like a demon for 3-4 minutes taking about 20yds of line and going through a reed bed on the far bank. mark_mjs93
cracking fish there mikee, i myself went out yesterday in search of chub down the ouse, (near were i live) and caught nothing, when i moved over to cheese paste they were HAMMERING it, i landed 3 chub i was soo happy, because i went out targetting them in particular to add to the list, as i had never caught one before, and the heaviest i had was 5lb 3oz which was good for me, i fished from 9am through till 3, and i only caught those 4, i was static, so i geuss if i had trotted i could have caught many more, but i was happy with them would post pictures but i didnt have my camera, in the evening i went down for pike with a friend and we caught ****** all, but we saw a little muntjack deer, and that was quite good, good end to the season i think, and on friday i caught my first pike, only little, but ill post the picture when my friend sends me it... mikee
A cracker that Mikee, well done. Did you see that 45lb pike off the Thurne? Thurne Pike cheers wb, i had a look for a pic of the pike but couldnt find any, i bet its a stunner, big river pike always look extra big compared to the short fat trout reservoir fish, do you know if it came from the river or was it caught on horsey or somewhere, wait until october and try to get on the bank at martham or bastwick, no chance, will be wall to wall cockneys and northerners  mikee
