SNAKEBITE
Sorry if it hard to read this. It's even harder to write whilst sobbing gently. Not the hysterical kind but just the odd whimper that I'm letting out every now and again. The morning started so well. First glance through the scope revealed SIX rabbits and a cock pheasant all in the scope at the SAME TIME! (o.k. I know the birds off the menu before anyone says anything) But just out of range. A little shuffling round the building I was using as cover revealed a sitter that was within range. Missed it. The sun was behind me and I saw the pellet arc gracefuly towards the target, it was catching the light in the same way they do in lamplight. Just as the pellt got there the rabbit twitched and it passed within millimetres of its nose! A couple of shots later and still nothing :*) Stalking my way round the fields revealed nothing until I had completed my circuit and on the way back to the car a rabbit ran across the path. Suddenly another one ran in front and froze in the middle of the path. 10 metres away. Lifting rifle slowly to shoulder, easing off safety taking the shot and .................. MISSING! From 10 metres. :*) I think I like the sound of model railways. Please look at my advert in the "for sale " section! (oh and I went away and checked the zero on the scope and it was in, I haven't even got a good excuse )

hill billy
This may sound strange but i find it much harder to compensate for close shots than further away,
Axe
errr....wouldnt that be 'Red Nose Day'! Perhaps if you change your log in name to 'Roger' all the critters will have your name on them and you may be a little bit more successful! Or maybe you could write a book about it and call it the "Rabbit Diet Plan"! I hear dieting is all the rage at the momemnt! Sorry bud, couldn't resist. Don't be disheartened, your bound to get one eventually, im sure it's happened to everyone at times. Keep up the practice! Regards, Axe. SNAKEBITE
Thanks for the sympathy. Still the way I look at it is there are more for next time, that and the fact that they are going to get so used to me being there eventually I'm going to be able to club them with the blunt end! That'll teach them. Oh and Brian, I hope I'm not jinxed, you've got me worried now! Anyway I'm just off to have a practice, going to start by trying to hit a cows a**e with a shovel from 2 paces. Then work my way up slowly. Edited March 14, 2005 by SNAKEBITE

Never mind son ,keep up the practice , all the above have probably had their fair share of what the **** happened there shots as i have myself ,remember the time in Keynsham (just outside Bristol) a bunny ran out of a culvert at my feet and scarpered i let off 3 rounds of #5s at his rear end within a second of each other and missed each time :*) , the bunnys bowels were working fine though ,i think he lost a pound or so ,my buddy was still laughing all the way home ,oh well Martin
