Beardo
i can get hold of IMI Samson copper jacket hollowpoint 55gr bts for £8 a box and they group beautifully from my new rifle. But are these any good for foxing or should i stick to ballistics tips?
geordieh
Hi Nickbeardow Good price where do you get them from and do they do other calibres like 222 and 243 Thanks in advance Geordie
Beardo
Gunshop - Cat Hill, East Barnet - don't know about other calibres. any answers on fox use?
Dunkield
If they are similar to American Eagles they will do the job, I guess it would depend how thick the copper is, and big the 'ole is? Incidentally, you should be able to AE's for that sort of money Do a search on here for some of Frank's (old) foxing write ups.
Beardo
i thought AE's were normal fmj rounds and not hollow points? the holes are pretty big in the IMI, not sure as to the thickness of the copper. i tried Federals soft points 55gr (all over the place), Norma ballistics 55gr (nice tight group) and IMI Sampson fmj hollowpoint 55gr (nice tight group) will look up frank. thanks

Beardo
i love it, looked carefully at Tikka and Remmy as well but preferred the Titan. I felt too hunched up with the Tikka Yes the trigger guard is plastic. Shoots like a dream out of the box.
Dunkield
i thought AE's were normal fmj rounds and not hollow points? The 55 grn's are FMJ, the 50 grn's are hollowpoint http://www.federalpremium.com/products/det...ifle.aspx?id=

Newsportshooter
If a HV .22lr will do a fox then those IMI will easily dispatch one. Did you take that bullet head, that I recovered from the chalk, home with you - tangible proof of good expansion of bullet in reasonably soft material.... I don't reckon there would be any problems with over penetration etc.. and theres obviously plenty of energy transfer (judging by the tree......) Get out there with your whistle (sorry rabbit distress call) Anyway - I dont think you can argue for less than 50p a round - I reckon youve found a bargin (unless of course that copper jacket is a cheap low carbon steel/copper alloy rather than true copper, in which case it may reduce the life of your barrel - might be worth a check onth'internet). GatGun
Ive been using privi 55 g sp's lately as they are around the same price and they are more accurate than expected.
Beardo
just went out to try and christen the rifle - took the norma's i had left (run out of the IMI's when target shooting). Bloody hell the temperature dropped about 11pm. Slinked around for a bit and didn't see much, then setup in the corner of a big field and called for a bit. Saw nothing in the field but after a while i heard rustling behind us back toward the road and the 4x4. Turned round and Charlie popped his head up 20 yards away! Couldn't shoot him as he was directly inbetween us and the vehicle, he disappeared back into the roadm then reappeared a couple of hundred yards further up the field. Circled us at distance for a while then the bloody lamp battery died. Oh well, another night.

njc110381
Shoot a melon with one and note the results. If it splats well it will be fine for Fox but if it drills through it probably wont
