carping tackle

Like everything else in life, with fishing tackle you tend to get what you pay for.

I have four carp rods (2x 2.5lb TC and 2x2lb TC) and just one rod cost more than the whole outfit in that advert.

However, whats advertised will probably enable you to cast the distances you want and land any fish you hook, just don't expect to hand it all down to your grandchildren.

should land a 30lb fish, its how much stick you need to give it, you can land a 30 on a match rod and 2lb line in a snag free lake the benefit of quality tackle shows it self if you have to drag it out of a snag or hump it over a bar or through a weed bed

Dont seem a bad price shame you dont live closer to skegness as most of that tackle comes from a shop there called Dragon carp they do have a website and prob would be cheaper to buy from them direct :good:

Buy cheap buy twice, unless you get a bargain on good stuff :hmm:

Have a look on maggot drowning, saw a pair of Greys Prodigys on there yesterday at £30 each, bargain and good rods! :good:

aHHH carp gear.............got about 1800 quids worth upstairs in the loft that hasnt been used for 3 years..........

Join the club, only all mine adds up to in excess of £5K. Keep thinking of selling it, but then think if I was to have to go out and buy it all again, It would kill me.

Used to fish religiously every weekend all over the country and abroad, doing five-7 day stints quite often, then kids came along!

Still manage to get out a couple of times a year and enjoy getting a bend in the rod more than specimen hunting nowdays.

SS where did you fish, you live in the next county so weve probably fished some of the same waters, i jacked in a few years ago now but when i was into it i fished friday night to early monday morning almost every week then sat in my biv one day and thought there must be more to life than this, packed up and never went again, had some great times and caught a few whackers over the years

i have bought thousands of pounds worth of fishing gear over the years and my reccomendation to you would be forget the carp gear buy yourself an avon type rod a small baitrunner probably a cheap okuma secondhand a bag of leads some line some decent hooks and a few different baits the cheap ones still catch (worms meat bread and catfood). Get yourself a ticket for a local angling club you will find you will find lots of river available to you for £20 a season rather than the £20 a day most carp waters charge and just go to the river and cast a line in any likely looking holes

hour and hours of fun at a relatively cheap price if you need any advice on this sort of thing get in touch with me i'm sure i will be able to find out a few more details for you
