mcs1972
Results are now on the website: http://www.benellispauto.co.uk/ My 102 wasn't a total meltdown, looking at some of the others. Perhaps I ought to use the S/A a bit more often on the clays. Cat. Nice shooting cat.....First ever comp, got 52 in class c......for me it was just good I got at least something on every stand, and an 8 on the two rabbits at once stand....... Only been shooting a few months.... Mark
Catamong
Well, I missed one of those rabbits, with 2 shots, the damn thing jumped on me..!! That Benelli's the ideal tool for quick shooting, and some of those targets had to be shot quick when you can see 3 clays in the air at one time..!! Chard may have a point about ditching the Gamba.................only joking, will see how I get on at the Grand Masters at Sarfdarn next Monday. Cat. throdgrain
O/U's are not "excepted" everywhere, they're accepted everywhere. If you're serious about taking up clay shooting, forget about pump action shotguns, they're only any good in the hands of a real expert like John Bidwell, and even he wouldn't dream of using one in a competition he wanted to win. Semi Autos are accepted at any Sporting shoot, the modern ones are excellent and worth serious consideration, I've recently bought a Benelli Supersport, and it's a lovely gun, handles really quick when you want it to. Cat. If you're seriously going to try and win things I'd have to agree with the pump action statement, and that's coming from me a real lover of the guns. However if you just want to shoot I'm not sure how much difference it will make once you get used to it. In fact I'm going to take me 870 to Horne this weekend for a try, my normal score with my Benelli is between 70 and 80, so I'll see if my score is down because if it What ******* shooting snobs? Chard, seriously. You know there are clay shooters who look down there nose at people who don't use over/unders. It doesn't mean they are right, god it doesnt even mean they know anything about the subject, but it doesn't stop them spouting off. At Horne the other week a bloke criticized me for not having any insurance as I wasn't a member of CPSA. When I said I'm a member of BASC he just blustered he had never heard of them Yet that's a middle-aged bloke with all the vests, all the gear etc. Which looks more friendly to an over/under shooter, this or this ?? It's a fair question actually ! Maybe if really good shots like Cat will use semi-autos more then there wont be such a negative attitude to them sometimes (and I do say sometimes, most of the time I've had no negative responses at all). Or maybe some people will just carry on regardless

Or maybe some people will just carry on regardless I've only got the supersport and shoot at Broomhills about twice a week usually. I have not had any bad reactions, but for some people it is like marmite, you either love it or hate it.....I understand the safety issue that some people see but any gun is only as safe as the person thats handling it..... I may just for the experience enter the berretta world with the supersport, of course only using 2 shots more for the experience...its another outing ;-> Mark
Catamong
Thodgrain, Your pump will be absolutely fine for 90% of targets at the Horne this weekend, where it will let you down is on a fast going away simmo pair or a fast pair of driven, as you will not be able to cycle it quick enough to get a decent shot off at the second bird, it will have long gaaawn. What I was getting at was making the original cloth cap comment, just because a bloke makes a tentative "shall I, shan't I" post about a clay comp for semi-autos. There isn't going to be any snobbery at a do like that, is there? It just struck me as another tedious opportunist pop at anybody who doesn't shoot with a Baikal fencepost held together with baler twine. It gets like the ******* Labour Party Conference round here sometimes

I thought I'd give it a go I can hit 40 or so with it at my local shoot, but they can be quite slow between the two clays, so it's not a good comparison. I'm going to try anyway, and will report back, good or bad ! Chard thats like a sort of reverse snobbery you're on about, it'd not ocurred to me to be honest
