worried silly

Recommended Posts

Hi people iv got a slight problem, my fierarms is up for renewal in september, im sure that my shotguns, rimfires and my 22-250 are safe on the ground iv got only problem is recently i lost my main stalking ground as the owner has sold the land off for housing and other things so im worried what they will do with my 25-06 as i only brought it in june, i have a golf course i have deer stalking permission on but im worried the FAO might have a problem with letting me keep the rifle on a golf course. The other land i have has not got any deer and the rifle is down just for deer so i can't even work it for a fox gun.

any sudgestions ?

Im saving for a house at the moment so paying to go stalking isn't really an option, the gold course is 27 holes and based in a valley with quiet a number of muntjac and fallow that love to destroy the trees, do you guys think they wouldn't approve i have rearly had to pass up a shot because of bad position of either the animal or no back stop

If you have a deer calibre and land wth deer on, then you have good reason to keep it.

25-06 is a 'dual purpose' calibre so you can always add foxes to it if they are unhappy about the land you have for stalking, but from what you have said you have enough reason to keep it.

Well im not sure if it's cleared or not iv been in touch with plod and said i want it to be cleared to make 100% sure so i no were i stand when renewal comes round, when i asked about clearing the ground i mentioned calibers to the FAO who said they just clear it not just to a caliber which makes sense because it doesn't matter if im shooting a .22lr or a .50 BMG its still got to have plenty of back stop.

I would say that if you can get permission from the golf course to shoot deer then you will be home and dry.

It may help your cause if you can identify deer damage to shrubs, trees and so on then you can point out to the powers that be the damage the deer are causing and suggest that they are in need of a bit of a cull before the numbers get really out of hand.

I'd say your golf course sounds reasonable to me. Are your conditions open on your FAC at the moment? If so you should be fine.

If it all goes belly up get on here and tell us ASAP. I'm sure someone on here can give you a written invitation to stalk with them so you can keep it. It's not like you have to actually go, just be invited :good:

EDIT... Don't forget to point out the Fallow! They could give you Munties on your .22-250 if you don't show anything bigger!
