new to the flock
Well H, if you want to send me the co-ordinates I can always call your local police on Saturday and tell them I was on Google Satalite and spotted two armed men wearing masks That should give you the "All we need now is something to go wrong" NTTF
Suffolk shooter
HD, Try it without the magnet to start with, if the birds fly over but don't then commit, then put it out. I've found by past experience that by putting it out at the start over peas, they seem to shy off (No shine from magnet). Likewise I found that the birds committed better without regardless of where it was put in the pattern. Also have ago at the runway pattern, I tried it for the first time last friday and it really worked! SS Oh, and all the best.
henry d
Where we will be is slightly off a flightline so we need the magnet to get them coming to us, along with the new floaters and I must remember to put in the cradles too. Can`t wait
M ROBSON
Hi HD, I had 42 acres of peas drilled last week, 2 guns shot over them on Friday for 123 woodies. Had another 50 acres drilled over the last 3 days so there should be some more good shooting to be had yet. Mark.
PaulABF
HD, Also have ago at the runway pattern, I tried it for the first time last friday and it really worked! Suffolk - what's a runway pattern? Two parallell lines, or is that too easy?
starlight32
Suffolk - what's a runway pattern? Two parallell lines, or is that too easy? If its a Staggered line then that pattern works anywhere not just for peas. Regards

The runway pattern we used last friday over peas was basically all deeks in a straight line heads into the wind randomly spaced along its length. We had a flapper out the front of the line and floaters/bouncers on the inside of the line one near the back from memory and one towards the front. Worked well with birds dropping along the length which was good between initially two and then a third gun spaced along the length of it. First time I had tried it and goes against everything I had read by Coates et al, but definitely one to have a go at if you've not tried it. Starlight32 may be right it might work on anything, but as I've only shot it over peas and thats what HD's post was about.... SS

M ROBSON
My Peas have been sprayed off with residual herbicide straight after drilling so the pigeons haven't gone near them since in any good numbers. They are starting to use the fields a bit more now and there's still loads of loose peas on the top so they might build up in numbers on them yet. Mark.
