casts_by_fly
Hi guys, got my FAC back after a variation request (2.5 weeks). I had requested to add a 22 centerfire (221 fb), a FAC shotgun, and a moderator that I can use on 3 of my guns (22 CF, 17 AH, 22lr). I figured I could get one moderator to fit all three guns, and have that moderator listed on my certificate as being able to be used for all three guns. I got the certificate at lunch today and was granted everything I asked for, with a hitch. Instead of giving me 1 slot for a moderator and conditioning its use on all three guns, they gave me 3 slots for moderators- one for each gun asked for! I don't think I'm going to correct this one, so I'll just hang onto the slots for now. Thanks, Rick
Lloyd90
Can you get 1 mod that would have worked on all 3 of those guns ? I don't know man. Might just be better off with a mod each. Congratz on the new slots mate What 22 CF you getting ?
casts_by_fly
yes, one mod would have worked on all three. I already have a 223 barrel on my encore (not threaded). I am getting a CZ 221FB (threaded). I already have a 17 AH encore barrel (threaded) and my 22LR is threaded also. A small mod would have handled all three nicely. I already have a Sak on my 22LR, so I didn't need one for that, but I figured I might as well add the condition so that the same moderator could be used on all three. The sak is great for subs, but if I already have a higher ability moderator for a 22CF, then why not use that one instead with non subs? Besides, I can't affort 3 new mods. It will be 2 months before I can buy the first one. Thanks, Rick
alexm
I might have misread but I wouldn't use a SAK mod (for rimfire) on a centrefire!
Billy.
Well excuse the pun, but you'd have shot yourself in the foot if you had just got the one mod, as you'd have to rezero each rifle every time you swapped the mod. If you don't believe me, I zeroed my .270 the other day and once I was done, I noticed the mod wasn't as tight on the barrel as it should of been. After giving it another tight half turn, the bullets didn't hit the target, let alone the cardboard shipping box the target was stuck to... It was a good 15" off target. You will never get stopped from asking for individual mods, as you can claim potential hearing damage.
Breastman
I might have misread but I wouldn't use a SAK mod (for rimfire) on a centrefire! Thats how i read that too! For the sake of your safety and anyone around you DO NOT put a SAK mod on a .223!!! KABOOM!! Mark
casts_by_fly
Hi guys, Other way around. I had a Sak on m 22LR now. I shoot subs through it. I have put HV rounds through it, but the level of moderation was just okay. I stick to subs because that's all I need. I was considering getting one mod that I could swap onto 3 rifles. It would be something to the effect of a CQB, T4, or similar centerfire moderator. I would potentially use it on the 22LR as additional suppression level if I wanted to shoot HV rounds. I'd have to change zero to swap from subs to HV anyway, so I'd just know my clicks. I guess my logic was clearer in my mind than I put it on paper.
