George1990
The countersignatory for SGC must be an MP, Laywer, Doctor etc. but for an FAC referee this is not specified. Does this mean I can ask a regular Joe to be a referee? This would make life a lot easier... B) Thanks

George1990
Ooops. Should've searched first. B) George, apparently anyone can be an FAC referee, as long as they have known you for at least 2 years to vouch that you are a responsible chap. Not like SGC where they have to be an upstanding community member. Answered my own thread question - must be a first Would like to know though where you put down you want moderators as some people have mentioned as my form just says gun type and doesn't have a space for mods

20alex09
Use the box under where you wrote what guns you want so that you can put a reason in for wanting the mod. I think people normally put health and safety reasons down - to protect your hearing. Edited April 25, 2009 by 20alex09
George1990
Ah that makes sense thanks Alex. Or you could put to lessen disturbance to other people - the plod'll love that one B)
markb
I believe there is a legal difference between the term referee and counter signatory as used on fac/sgc, check with BASC very helpful people,B) as far as mods go, youv'e just about got it nailed, hearing protection, not disturbing local residents, and possibly one that some people don't think of, not disturbing livestock. covlocks
People get a bit daunted over the "Guidance" that says MP, Lawyer, Doctor etc. What is required is a signature that has some sort of tracability behind it, it doesnt mean they are better that you etc, just means that the person can be easily verified. So, that means your local publican can sign, because he is a licencee that is granted by a magistrates court, a qualified engineer belonging to a government recognised body, Corgi, the CAA, Inst Mech Engineers etc etc. So dont let the "Guidance" example professions put you off. nickcass23
I was informed by my fao that for the fac licence he wanted people who new me ie best friend, long term work college etc etc. These people know more about you and your lifestyle than the local mp or accountant... Bleeh
a rule of thumb is anyone with a respectable job - So, a long known friend or college who is a banker, teacher, etc.. someone who has a profession. Just not Joe Mcblogs who works in a chippy every other wensday night.
