Dunkield
Good catch, but at the risk of being controversial I wouldn't eat it. The 3 pounders would be fine, but I just think about what those fish have been fed to get to that size, then give them away to friends and family

Dunkield
wont the 3 pounders have been fed on the same diet It all depends how they are brought on, and at what weight they are released into the fishery. If the water will support it some fish will grow on naturally, but a fish that size and condition would have been stuffed up on pellets to that size and then slipped into the lake. Actually the niehbour thing doesn't always work, I caught a 9lb rainbow and had to kill it, so I gave it to my neighbours who were very grateful, but then said 'it is too big for just us, you will have to come round when we cook it'
