blackbird
What is the going (new) price for a sako quad barrel, I have quad in .17HMR & fancy a .22 barrel for it.
Dirty Harry
I paid £120 for a second hand but in reality never used .22 barrel. I think they are about £150 new. I have hardly ever used the .22. I might get rid of it and get a cheep .22 rifle instead. Harry
Dave-G
I have both - and long ago would have endorsed it as a multi-calibre rifle. In fact the ejector claw is very reliable at pulling out the 17 rem shells but it is not reliable for ejecting the smaller diameter .22 shell in a way that one made to specifically for the calibre is. It very rarely gets used and were it a rifle and scope combo with decent cash lying idle I would sell it.
badshot
I'd go along with the above suggestions. Whenever i have the .22 on all i want to do is put the .17 on again. save your money and get a dedicated .22 gun if thats what you want. There were three in my local shop all going to be reamed out to try to fix the problem with ejecting. They wanted to send mine as well but as i have seen several people post on here that they have had it done with no effect i declined the offer. Every now and then i put the .22 on, but it will only stay on for a few weeks at most. Have you tried changing your barrel? I did soon after i got the gun and it did not hold it's zero well enough to shoot at anything, so each time the barrel is changed it means another zeroing session. When i have the funds i will get a .22 of some description ATB badshot

The ejector claw is pretty bad, on average it only ejects 3 out of 5 cases.
Dave-G
It's a bl00dy shame they didn't bother refining the claw - or the claw cavity in the barrel if thats where the fault lies because the 17 flavour is brilliant - as is the LR when it ejects reliably, like for ten rounds after a good chamber scrub. I've never heard any ejection problems regarding the HM2 - but they have probably only sold two or three of them.
