most pigeons sat on eggs not feeding that much but saying that a few small flocks were feeding on the edges of the rape and remember pigeons will look far areas of short crops in field and feed on them and you wont see them just keep watching flight lines and come late june any winds that make crop circles the pigeons will feed on them

This time of year the pigeons will be on the peas, cress, linseed, spring rape and newly drilled cover crops.

It is always worth checking winter rape because the birds will land on top of the rape or along the edges etc.

the crops may be tall but it is always worth keeping your eye on them because they may not be feeding on them but they might be flying over them to get to a field they wont to feed on.

It is worth going round other farms to see where the pigeons are and try to gain more permission, you can never have too much land to shoot over.

Good luck :good:

Pigeons are feeding as much as they do at any time of the year. How else are people like myself and MerseaDavid shooting decent bags? There were maybe 1000-2000 pigeons flighting onto the peas i shot on the other day. If you have the right crops and pigeons are in your area, then chances are you can make a good bag.

The pigeons are no longer moving around in large flocks , although they do group up on fields they are feeding on.

Its easier to get permissions when the birds are obviously hitting the fields, ( check out the crops as mentioned in MerseaDavid's post), but its still worth knocking on doors year round.
