joeshaw08
Me and my Dad were having a walk round one of our permissions this evening after the bunnies. Now this permission has alot of foxes on it too, which we were infact told to shoot until the other day, when the owner said "don't shoot them, as the neighbores have taken to them and are feeding them now" As I want to keep this permission, obviously I did what I was told and said if I saw them I wouldnt shoot. I was taking a walk round along one of the hedge rows and stopped as I saw something - turned out to be 3 cubs and a vixen playing in the long grass. I stopped for a second and then moved towards them, which they didn't mind. I then got to about 5 yards away and they were STILL playing while the mum was watching me, but they didn't seem to care. The residents have treated them so well that they're just not bothered about humans, and i was carrying a 12b under my arm to boot. I won't lie, the tempation was there. But at the same time, it was nice just to watch nature doing its thing. I told the owner of the permission about it and he said that he's shot rabbits and had them by his feet, and the foxes have just come over to him and taken them. It's like shooting at a petting zoo! deny essex
I agree with samw, nice to watch nature do its thing, I have only shot one fox in over 30 years of shooting and that was an opportunist shot 20 years ago, I have no interest in fox shooting but would if requested or the need arose do the deed. I have seen many foxes over the years that i could have taken , several have stalked into the pigeon decoy pattern, interesting to see their reaction when they find out they got it wrong ! But at least i know my pattern fooled something

FM My favorite post was the one from a chap with a picture of two walked up Grouse he'd shot on some random padock land (where birds wheren't realeased or kept). Apart from they where both grey partridge.
Ferret Master
If memory serves me correctly it was a red leg and a grey and he thought he had a shot a 'partridge and a grouse'. I wouldn't expect to see many grouse in a grass field in the midlands either. But apparently all that mattered was they were on 'the list' so were fair game and it didn't matter.
