Mark-70
Sportsman, Exeter. And Ian Coley has really nice new shop on his shooting ground in Cheltenham. Always call in these two when I'm up that way. But closer to home I bought my shotgun from Martin Elworthy, small shop but nice quality guns and great service! Gordon R
I think I have a nomination for the worst. I phoned up about a Browning Trap gun to a shop north of Stoke. I specifically asked if there was any play in the action. I asked if there was any barrel wobble with the forend off. Was told that the gun was locked up on the shelf, but had none, as it "had done very little". 100 mile round trip to find that the gun was about as slack as I have come across in recent years. Pulled the forend off - it wobbled like crazy. Truly dreadful. The top lever was past the halfway point and it should have been obvious. When I told the lad, he said that the gun had "done quite a bit". They give the gun trade a bad name.
onefulham
Countryman of Derby, great service and very good prices, highly recommend them, I live in Beds but working for Networkrail I spend a lot of time in Derby, our HQ, saw from there web site they are very competitive, so I popped in and spent ages chatting and trying different guns,I had gone up with plans for one gun but it did not feel right, whereas the cheaper Lanber just seemed to fit and feel right, just felt for a first gun it was not worth spending too much, and second hand was a gamble as dont know what to watch out for, so got the Lanber, I know its not a Browning or Beretta, but I can move on up if want to. All in all I am very pleased with the advice, help and price I got from the Countryman Of Derby.

Gordon R
Mark - I will second that. About 10 years since I was in, but used them quite a lot to buy shells.
