Got a 16" Style in the cabinet. No problems with accuracy and it's easier to point out of the window than something longer.

You will get a lower muzzle velocity than something with a longer barrel, but not to notice if you are using subs and a mod

Technically the muzzle velocity shouldn't be effected as the powder/energy has been burnt before the 16" is travelled, some would argue that there is less friction in a shorter barrell so the muzzle velocity would improve...

My CZ style is 16" and as everyone has said it is easier to move around...

Shooting Times did a test a few months ago where some bloke started off with a long barreled rifle and cut it down, chronoing each time. There is an optimum length for muzzle velocity, where the bullet leave when the rate of expansion of the gas has peaked, but before friction can slow the projectile (I think).

When I was playing paintball there was a lot of talk about 14" being the optimum length for speed. Too short and the expanding gas gets vented before the projectile has reached optimum, too long and the velocity goes down as friction from the barrel slows it. Mind you, it was all a bit redundant, all of my barrels had porting for the last six inches and so the theory went right out the window.

whats the best barrel length for the a cz\ 452 style remember accuracy is everything when killing stuff? 16" 18" 20"?

For best ovearall performance stick with the longest barrel possible, for ease and manouverability you can go down to 16", and for most you are unlikely to notice any reduction in accuracy!

Ditto to deckers answer as well. Even though lots of unknowns are left in the question. As to accuracy as to what purpose; range, stalking, etc. You can adjust the rounds for your purpose, but its always hard to add length to barrel.

Think there was a lot of good discussion, to help fill in.
