Ozzy Fudd
went out today to our new permission to clear out as many crows as possible; only the second time we'd been there, but last saturday we had hordes of crows about the yard all day long, so we decided we'd go and do it properly today, with decoys, camo nets for hide, etc. four of us went out, though one guy had to leave after an hour, and another has only been shooting twice before, so it was up to me and richie to make the shots but today didnt go as well as we had planned. when we arrived at the yard the farmers son and my uncle were driving in fence posts in the field beside the yard which was keeping the crows away. also the bird scarer had been turned off from monday, so the crows were a bit more wary of shots, and due to where my uncle and the farmers son were working we couldnt set the hide up in the spot we'd picked last week, so had to set it up at the far side of the yard - if you look at the pic youd hardly even notice its there... having said all that we didnt have too bad a day took this pic just before we dismantled the hide, 13 crows, one grey back and a big fat wood pigeon. as well as that there were 4 more crows and another pigeon lying on the roof of the cattle shed behind us (which was drawing the crows in), once we dismantled the hide and loaded the car we hung around for another 30mins as the cattle in the barn had just been fed, bagged another 4 crows between us before heading home not a massive bag admittedly, but good enough all things considered. oh, and i also managed to find time for a bit of impromptu tree felling...
