jack_m
I had a search and a read of related posts, but I'm still not 100% sure. I was wondering how and with what should I be cleaning the exterior of my shotgun barrels? Got some stubborn rain marks on there today and want to get them off, should I give them a wipe with a rag with some of the bisley gun oil ive got on it? or maybe the bore cleaner ive got? Im not really sure so any help much appreciated Cheers Jack

Peter De La Mare
Legier Spray, or Napier Gun Spray. I give them a quick wipe after use. Extremely important if they get wet, or fingermarks on them. My mate didn't believe in wiping them down at all, 1 year later his brand spanking new Urika 2 has a rusty barrel. jack_m
Cheers for the replies guys, I used some WD-40 today as blackbird said as i didnt want to leave them over the rest of weekend without putting anything on as they got soaked earlier! but I'll get one of the cleaning agents you guys have advised on monday. Any drawbacks of using WD-40 over a dedicated gun spray? Thanks Jack
blackbird
I have a 10yr old Browning 425 & have always given it a wipe over with WD-40 before it goes into the gun safe after every time I use it & trust me its in the same condition as i bought it new. vmaxphil
I've got a jar with a piece of damp oiled rag in it and wipe the barrels with it after cleaning the gun, my barrels are like new after 15 years
