deadeye
toyota hilux, it is the dogs dangley bits for getting your gear where you need it. heres a piece of totally useless but interesting info. back after the 9-11 terror attack in nyc, just prior to coalition forces going into afganastan, the us special forces (tactical equivalent to the british sas) stationed at fort bragg in south central north carolina usa came to raleigh to a local civilian toyota dealer and purchased every toyota tacoma double cab v6 that they could put their hands on. they put some kind of armour plate or kevlar on them and transported them to afganastan and used them extensively for their missions there. the tacoma is similar to what you call a hilux. i just thought it interesting. evidently the toyota blended in better there and was small enough to get through narrow streets, roads or paths, but capable enough to haul a ****load of afgans or other stuff in the back. i drive a full size chevrolet 4 x4 pickup truck and i like it, but if loves gas. it has plenty of room for dog and gear. if i was going to buy a new vehicle i would give that tacoma double cab 4x4 v6 a hard look. toyotas are known for low maint and good longevity. henry d
Slightly off thread I know but several years ago I bought a trolley, from argos, that anglers use for carting their gear to the riverbank. It has wide plas wheels and a fairly large base to take all my stuff and I would recommend it to anyone as the best way to get from motor to shooting position.I even used it to cart pheasant feed to the pens too. Guest Mr Pieman
I have a Suzuki Samurai soft top. Goes anywhere and frequently has to recover my mate's V8 90! Might be a driver issue I think :(
Cranfield
Mr Pieman, its usually a driver and tyre issue. Its amazing how many people have standard road tyres on 4x4s and expect them to climb muddy mountains.
