Beating In Worcestershire

Recommended Posts

Used to go beating as a kid on the Croome Estate Shoot, beating around Severn Stoke, Earls Croome, Kinnersley in Worcestershire

Any suggestions regarding getting back into it, who to contact, etc greatly rec`d

Not that the money is important, I used to get £1 note per day, whats the current expectation for a days beating (hopefully its gone up a bit in 23 years)

i would say anywhere between £0 and £25 for a days beating

not sure how close you are but there is a great shoot called the Noverton near Stanford Bridge, Tom Spilsbury is the keeper, i shot there last year and it was superb, i think his number is on 'guns on pegs' website

I joined PuBS - www.pubs.myfunforum.org - but you dont even have to register and its all free anyway.

They found me extra picking up in no time.

I believe that they are running beaters courses on a real shootday in november, and chuck in a full english and roast lunch etc all free too.

Sounds like they have had so much interest that they have to run three or more now and I confess i am tempted to sign up just for the food.

Contact Madrags on PuBS , she lives in Worcestershire and has local contacts, or their admin.

NOBS is the only organisation linking shoots with beaters, pickers up and loaders.

Its beaters courses are accepted as the benchmark for new beaters and are a passport onto shoots.

Long established and with a massive database of members all over the united kingdom it can enable shoots to find new beaters, pickers up and loaders quickly and efficiently.

Its fees are minimal £5 for individuals and £10 for shoots and from August 1st 2009, for an additional £15 full insurance cover is included.
