foggy11
Hi all.. just a quickie...... i have tried to zero my cz 17 hmr at 100 yds, but am sitting with the bipod in grass...at 100 yds mygroups are about 2 and half inches,,,thats me not the gun or sights... When i pull the target back to 50 yds the zero is still the same point as 100 yds,,,, So my question is would i be better to zero at 50 yds ( i can get a group of nearly half inch at 50) and assume it will be spot on at 100. Dodgemball
I have a graph that shows the 2 zero points and they work out to be 40yards and 100 yards. If you like I can try and send it to you in pm. Dodgemball

Dodgemball
If you search on the net you may find one. I only have the one for the 17 HMR I'm affraid. Try the Hawke website as this is who has done the one I listed. Dodgemball

casts_by_fly
If you zero at 100, the 50 zero will be about 1/2" high or so. If you zero at 50, you'll be about 1/2" high at 100. Either way, if you're shooting 2 1/2" groups at 100 you'll never notice the difference of 1/2" POI. Sounds like you need some trigger time first. Thanks Rick
foggy11
I would hazard a guess that it was probably more like 120 - 130 as i only paced it out..... Im just using the bipod on longer legs , sitting , and cant seem to keep my cross hairs in one place.... When im laying or leaning against gate posts or off the back of pick up its not a problem.......
taffygun
I've tried lots of different zeroing methods just for the hell of it and I can only come to the conclusion that they don't work... 35 yards zero and its spot on for 125yds and 40 yds for 100yds.. faff... Best thing to do is place the target at exact 50yds and 1 at exact 100yds..You can either use a rangefinder or a cheaper version is go to B+Q and buy a 100yd builders tape measure (About a tenner) First practice at 50yds... and once you've got an inch at 50yds move to the 100yds target and re-zero.... you won't be a million miles out anyway. Just as an after thought... have you tried different makes of rounds.... again they say they're all made in the same factory, if thats the case why do they perform differently My hummer won't tolerate Remingtons or CCI but doesn't mind S+B's and I can get 3/4" @ 100yds with Hornady's which I can't even do at 50yds with the first two makes
Nelly T
There are all sort sof tracjectory graphs and stuff for .17 and 22LR on www.varmintal.com I have not tried them but it looks pretty comprehensive testing! Personally I zero the HMR at 50, move the board to 100 and tweak, with the 22 50 yard zero, at 75 yards I am holding over exactly 1 mildot, any further than that and I ought to be using the HMR anyway!
