as titled my bitch is aprox 1 week in her season. My dog is only trying to get on her now and then (not showing a great interest) will this change when she is ready as they live together all the time or will i have to improvise ie try to get him to mount etc etc, please help

It will happen when she is ready and willing :good:

I would exercise a little caution in that you might want to be present when it does as some bitch don't actually like the experience when push comes to shove(if you know what I mean). She may do daft things like panic when she can't get away and damage him trying. She may also try to bite him(or you) so beware!

First timers are always going to be unpredictable.

On the other hand it may well go as one would expect and hope, it is a natural occurrence after all.

Good luck

she is now moving her tail to the side when my dog is cleaning her, he gets on her back and tries and tries but he is no where near and she just looks un interested. The discharge went from blood to clear 2 days ago aprox. what should i do???

When any of my bitches come into season I keep them well away from my dogs, as the dogs will inevitably harass the bitch.

At around 12 days into her season I will put them together and if the bitch is ready her tail will move around and she will stand for him to mount her, if he tries before she's ready then the bitch will usually not let him get on her, so wait another day or so.

He doesn't need to be constantly mounting her, twice is enough and when she is ready for him I let them do it once then again 2 days later to be sure. But keep them apart in between as it's not fair on the bitch to have him harassing her all the time.

Cheers
