pigeon controller
DB could only play on Saturday last week so we set out at 09.00. We visited four farms and found shooters already set up so we moved on. We picked up a flight line and followed it to one of our farms and went to find the Farmer he had just given permission to a new shooter but he said that he was only going to shoot for two hours. We met the guy on the field and he confirmed he would be two hours only, so we said that we might come back if we could not find anything better. We drove around and found another field with 100plus birds on it, we watched and no birds joined these so we set up and yes they all ******** off. 22 came back and went in the bag. We went back the the original field and the shooter had gone we set up and shot for two hours and then the flight line stopped this was because another shooter had set up two fields before us. We ended the day with 107 We met the guy and he said it was his first day out this year!!! Where are these shooters in January carrying out crop protection on the Rape so you can have the good days on the stubble?? Cranfield
Aaaaah, the curse of the summer stubble shooters. They turn up every year and give it some welly for a few weeks , then disappear until next year. I shoot all the week and rarely shoot at weekends, unless their is a serious crop protection requirement, this means I don't often encounter them. One of my bigger permissions (they issue written permissions, incl photograph and require photocopy of licence and insurance, plus other personal detail) , has just announced that they will renew permissions on an annual basis in October. Anyone who has not been seen around much, especially in the Winter months, will not get a renewal. Another Farmer has told his shooters much the same and has also asked them to bring him copies of their licence and insurance within 7 days. Any one who doesn't, loses their permission.
