allthegearandnoidea
I have just got my FAC back after sending it to Thames Valley Police at the beginning of June. I had recently got permission to use rimfires on a farm and sent off my FAC to get it changed from target shooting to shooting vermin etc. My FEO came around and said that I needed a mentor or someone to say that they had shot with me and I was safe, caompetent and could tell between different quarry species. As he put it at the time, he had never come across a shooter that couldn't tell the difference between a cow and a rabbit and that it had no basis in law but the chief of police in Thames Valley was insistent that she wouldn't give out FAC's without a*sre covering letters from other people who shoot. Anyway, on his advice I changed my application to include Centre fire rifles (after I asked the farmer is this was ok and got a letter to say so) and got letters from people I have shot with to say that I am safe etc. and sent them off. Noting then happened for about a month until I got a phone call from someone from the head office to say that because I had added a sound mod to my ticket I would have topay the £26 for a variation. She said that I would need to send them a check which would then be cased and only when they had the funds would they print my FAC and send it to me. Afetr two weeks the check had not been cashed so I rang to find out what was going on. The woman I spoke to previously was on holiday so the person I was speaking to asked if they could be any help. I explained the situation and they said they had reviewed my application that morning and did not believe I needed to pay for a variation and that my FAC would be in the post shortly. It arrived on Saturday (yesterday) but was wrong (hence the reason for this post). It had vermin shooting etc. added for .22 and the new .17hmr I added along with expanding ammo for both but didn't include the .223. They did however add 2 sound mods for .223 even though I only asked for one and only have one .223 on my ticket. I will be sending my ticket back to them soon, will speak to my FEO to find out what to do first, but as the title of the post, has anyone had any similar problems with changing their FAC and getting it back with mistakes on it? njc110381
I've had mistakes on mine on a number of occasions. It really isn't anything new! In all fairness to my force though I just give the head of firearms a ring and post it back to them and it will be back with me within a couple of days. They always give it priority. CharlieT
As njc has said, it's nothing new. Happens all the time. I just send mine back with a letter which in your case would say...............I'm afraid there is a typographical error on my fac. I states 2 x .223 sound moderators whereas it should state 1 x .223 rifle and 1 x .223 sound moderator. You should get it back by return. mikee
ive not really had any problems with wrong wording or items missed off, but i have had to wait a month for a 1for1 variation after i was told on the phone to send a letter with the cert to say why i needed it, (a new rifle was delivered faulty and had to go back) and it would get sorted the next day, twice i was told when i phoned to stop hasseling them and it will be done when she's ready. well it finally arrived today so i have been to rifle craft to collect my new cz452 .22, and have just fitted a "yodave" trigger kit, it has transformed the rifle, i put the 2nd lightest spring with the 2nd thickest tube, its lovely and light but not too light and breaks like glass, i cycled the bolt and dropped it from 5 feet above onto the bed and it didnt fire so i guess thats passed a drop test, ive just got to re-zero the scope in the morning and "job jobbed" mikee ps. it wasnt rifle craft that sold me the dodgy rifle Edited September 8, 2009 by mikee
