How shy is shy ?

If it's off before you stop the motor they are a pain in the ase.Try a very different call, like a duck call.I tried this one night on one that was offski as soon as the lamp went on but it stopped and did a U turn and peeked out just one too many times from behind a bale.I know if ihad tried a rabbit on it the dam thing would have speeded up in the wrong direction as it had done a few times before but the duck call blown softly was just too tempting for it.

If different calls dont work try baiting and sitting up.

If you're using a vehicle, change tactics and walk. If you're walking, try using a vehicle. If something has become familiar to the foxes, do something different. If you take the same route every time they'll expect you from a particular direction. Come from a different angle.

At present I am baiting an area with Rabbit bits and trying to get a feeding station going then plan to sit out and wait......

The problem is you never know what one you have shot :look:

Yes you do if you use a live catch trap first, tag and then release. I would use the chip system that they use in Dogs, I believe it is quite cheap.

Why would you go to the bother of trapping a fox to tag it and release it....and then shoot it at a later date. :look:

I havent got round to naming all the foxes on my land yet :look: but i can tell, certain ones by where they are and how they react and it makes it all the more satisfying when a really jumpy one makes a mistake and you nail him.

P.S. The duck call worked on one last night and shouting "STOP" worked on another :hmm: Both 3/4 grown cub's in very good condition, both taken at a chicken farm.

Pavman wanted to know which ones he had shot, I just thought it was a viable option.
