viking
right, i have just sold my webley & scott 812c semi auto, i bought this new 23rd may 2009, i only used it a hand full of times and wont of had 750 shots throught it, and cleaned it every time i used it, the bloke who bought it has got in touch tonight as forgot to give him the recipt, he told me that he has used it once and whilst cleaning it there has been some metal bits come out during cleaning, and he as also noticed some pitting just after the chamber, he is not really complaining of saying i sold it knowing about this (i hope) i never had any thing come out the barrel nor did i see any pitting, the barrels were spotless in my book, iv told him i will do all i can to get this sorted out, my question is, surly a 4 month gun cant be pitted, its never been in the rain and always cleaned, im totally baffled, only thing i can think is there may be a few marks at the end of the chamber as normal on any gun, but i cant work out where bits of metal are coming from from inside the barrel. also with him being the second owner will he still be ok to take it back and complain, any thought or advise much appreciated from me and the new owner, the owner is a pw member and may come forward to add his thoughts. cheers, Lee

magman
Ive got an 810 no pitting and will shoot all i put through it from 3" to 24 g . i bet the pitting is the gas ports B)
viking
what gas ports, i never saw ant, it was just a smooth barrel, just like any other gun,
DaveB916
If this is a gas operated semi which I belive it is, the gas has to get from the barrels to the piston, hence the gas holes/ports, frightened the life out of me when I first noticed them on my Bertetta A303 ....lol Dave B
Sauer
when you remove the barrel and clean it look up to the light form both ends to see whatever ends easirer for you and you will see 2 small holes these are the gas ports the gaurantee with webley & scott altho lifetime will not carry over to 2nde owner ...also you have to have your gun sent back to webley n scott within a certain time period after registering it with them, for a service so that lifetime gaurantee qualifys. i have an 810c left hander and works great..... fantastic weapon for the money had mine for couple o years now sauer
snipper
lol .... theres abit of difference in 2 holes for gasses and pitting B) twas i that bought the gun and am happy with the sale from lee and bare no bad fellings i used the brass brush on it to get rid of heavy plastic marks and flakes of metal came out which i assume is chrome ? are they chrome lined ? immediatley after the breech there looks to be pitting like i said .......... im happy with the sale and the gun performs spot on
ph5172
The shards of metal may be slithers from the brass (taken off by the ejector) or more than likley the bolt 'bedding' itself in, i bet if you clean up one of the shards it will be silver, especially if the gun is new. If you can post a picture of the pitting then we can have a look, try giving it a good scrub with a bore brush the barrel is lined so you wont damage it. snipper
taking a pic is easier said than done B) i think theres an art to getting a good pic of bores ........... the flakes would be silver either way ...chrome or the brass .... still doesnt explain pitting i'll give it a good rake with the brass brush ( curly tight one what ever the proper name for that one is )
DaveB916
I actually consoled myself by looking at the position of the gas ports externally i.e. piston housing and then looking down the bore fortunately they matched .....lol Dave B
