ME
My mams got a freelander (older type) had the slave cylinder? on the clutch go, but not much else The older ones are famous for the head gasket going. TBH I havent driven a "new" one. BTW, will you be doing mobile hairdressing in it or nail technician ? Only pulling your chain mate
Psyxologos
I just hope that the Freelander 2 will prove to be as reliable as the reviews say. I was reading them and every single person who owns them or 'journalist' who reviewed them said they were a class apart from the older vehicle. fingers crossed! Al Downie
I think the new model is a pretty good choice - I looked hard at them but ended up buying a Defender. One thing that did put me off was that, on some models, there's no way to fit a proper spare wheel. I flippin' hate those 'space-saver' bicycle wheels that they put in new cars. Almost as much as I hated the runflats in my previous car!
Andy W
When I was after a 4 x 4 it ended up as a toss up between an X5 or ML270, I went for the ML270 and have no regrets, there are good ones and bad ones about just the same as any brand, its a matter of knowing what to look for on Mercs. Incidentally when i was after a 4 x 4 I looked at loads of different ones, the ML ticked all the right boxes for me and despite what some say is quite good off road, not up to a land rovers standard obviously but for dirt tracks, wet fields/long grass, mud and water mine performs fine. shot shot
My mams got a freelander (older type) had the slave cylinder? on the clutch go, but not much else aye, same thing here, and the nut holding the gear linkage on fell off once, but it simply needed put back on and loctited
Delbert
Is that a bad thing? If you bought one with the TD4 engine no with the infamous K series Rover engine then you are hoping it has been properly built and maintained a lot were not. K series issues

starlight32
You'll be needing this >optional extra< then Are they really that bad? :( P.S1: Good thing I have complimentary AA cover from my bank. B) P.S2: That bad? Really? Is he pulling my leg? The only problem I can see with your purchase is that Freelander 2's are just not for wildfowlers...... Wildfowling areas in Lancashire are nototrious for being very mucky. How do you feel about dragging hawks of mud and cow pats into your new motor? You will fine as long as you are not bothered about keeping your motor in showroom condition...... Psyxologos
Thanks a lot for the encouragement, I think it is a good choice (stating the obvious here). I have already looked into buying some seat, boot and floor covers for when I go shooting! :good:

Is this right? yep the K series were 90's models the new Freeby2 is a very nice motor always reminds me of my much missed 3.5 RR Vogue SE 'Peggy' similar design cues tho' you lose a deal of boot space by comparison the plus side is you don't as Clarkson said need to be Mr Shellmobilexxon to use the accelerator.
