Rear work/reversing light

Looking for a adjustable rear work light for the pick up, it has a truck top on so will be bolted on to that. I want to wire it in so it can be used when reversing for hitching trailers etc. at night and the ability to turn it on manually when loading.

So 2 questions, any ideas ideally led, and how to wire it so it only comes on when reversing at night but can be turned on manually aswell.

Thanks Karl

I would keep it simple, and just wire it manually switched. Easy enough to turn it on when you want to reverse, just fit a warning light to the switch as well, so you don't drive away with it on. Loads of lights on the bay.

I think you have to stick it in reverse, find out the live feed and wire a switch to this, then you can have it on with reverse off road or manually.

Someone with auto electrics will be on soon to help.

Yes, but this way it will only work when the vehicle is in reverse and ignition is on.

+1, to have it linked to the reverse and be able to use it when not in reverse with ignition off is going to be a pain in the butt!

basically it's the 86 pin, put 2 feeds on it, one a switchable live from a switch in the cabin and then one either from the reversing light or from the the reversing switch on the gearbox (recommend from the light as its much easier to do) you can buy duel spade connectors or just splice and solder. But by all means drop me a message if you get stuck and need help, or if you want to make the 90 mile journey i can show you how to do it
