Laird Lugton
We have a 20 week old Lab and this afternoon I spotted a grey spot on his ear. On closer inspection it turned out to be a large tick so we removed it with the o'tom tick twister. It made a good sound when we pulled it out, still alive too! Turns out the vet had given him worm and flea treatment but not tick treatment. They use Advantix by Bayar, has anyone any experience of it? I have read good things about Bravecto on here. We live next to woodland with deer in so we think maybe he picked it up there. As a new dog owner is this something we are going to see regularly or once he's treated do you not see so many of them? Just a tad concerned with the dog bringing ticks with potential Lyme disease into the house since I have two young children. ShootingEgg
I.use practic which works for fleas and ticks also cider vinegar (tablespoon on evening meal) is meant to put them off. Tics that is, not the dog off its food haha
ilovemyheckler
Bravecto. I was taking ticks off my dogs daily until I started using it. I haven't had an attached tick since last August when I started giving them Bravecto. It's a bit more expensive but you only give it once every 3 months and it works. Salop Matt
Guys where do you get your Bravecto from? Our latest terrier has just had a tick and it's made a mess. Yes okay and on antibiotics but we now don't have as much confidence in frontline, so going forward we are looking at what else is on the market. Rubbish, if the ticks aren't attaching then the bravecto won't work. For it to work the tick has to attach and consume blood then after it started feeding it can take up to 12 hours for the tick to die.
