Can't remember the last time I saw one of these but they were common when I was a lad.

I think the problem with them was the usual not good rust protection they are said to be very good off road as they would need to be if they was made for driving around the russion countryside I think the Russion police had lots of them.

If I could aford to get a new one I would have it properly rust protected from the start the only problem with new ones is they nolonger make them with RHD and I have never driven a LHD car/truck so do not now how I would get on with it.

If I remember rightly was it the Cossack model that was a bit more 4x4 looking with a swing out rear mounted spare?

I have got a brochure for them dated 1996 at that time there was a dealer in the next town to me long gone now the Cossack had alloy wheels and some extra plastic bits with rear light gaurds and Cossack written in large letters down the side no swing out wheel on the back though.

The one that I wanted was the Hassar no plastic trim just steel wheels and basic trim I wish that I could have afforded one at the time but I was very pore then and by the time that I could have afforded to buy a nice second hand one the garage was no longer a Lada dealer.

I wish that I could get hold of a good rust free one in my price range but that is not going to happen so it will have to stay a dream Im afraid.
