Misfires on my miroku 6000

Not had this gun long and its only my second gun ,

Last week at the clay ground i had a few misfires where the shell had not been struck well  , i wrongly assumed that the gun was dirty so i proceeded to remove the stock and give the internals a good clean and oil

The hammer springs or Striker Springs (i think thats what they are called ) they are what appears force a hammer like object in the direction of the firing pins on left on right !!! Where clogged up especially in the seats ...

When I look @ the pin protrusion they seem to be quite equal in both top and bottom barrels Only the bottom barrel has issues

now if you fire the gun into snap caps theres a noticeable difference in the strike tone

So what im wondering is should swap the springs over and give the gun a few boxes on the bottom barrel and see if she misfires ,,

then i know what its down to , I Would like to have a go at fixing it myself purely as its the way i am , And no not tight Just bloody inquisitive lol

So i would welcome any constructive advice and opinions ---Has this hasppend to you in the past and if so what was the problem

many thanks

Jay

is litts some where i should try ?

probally pitted nose of the firing pin on bottom barrel (common fault on Browning/Miroku, not normally caused by weak spring (unless gun has done a lot of DTL, easy job to replace pin, but you will have to order part through dealer as importers will not supply direct.

Just looked at the pin Protruding after firing and your right it has a small pit / cavity in the pin its self is this what you are referring to ?

that realy causes a problem ? not questioning you at all but its very small say 10% if the size on the pin and slightly off center so not at the pinikal of the pin !!

humm number of the gun is 86088px or there abouts  i would be interested to know how old it is !!! its very clean and tidy

as for taking to to bits digital cameras help a lot thats something someone showed me pictures at every step assist greatly in rebuilding

Over all there not outlandishly complicated , horses for courses tho i suspect ... ive been puling things to bits all my life lol

Hi

From my personal experience with an Miroku MK70 the bottom pin pitted quite badly on the first box of 25 cartridges almost 4 years ago and has never failed to fire yet, thousands more cartridges later still no problems with FTF. More likely to be a worn spring imho.

Jay - Litts will cost a bob or two in postage. Stensby's would be cheaper than postage alone.

i have the firing pins out and in my hand simple enough

the bottom pin was caked in crud and shows signs of rust not heavy just the type of rusty oily crud that could be stopping it seat properly .. i can easily remove the main springs having done this once and successfully reinstalling them so i will purchase some pins and springs on as soon as i can find someone to sell them to me and all will be well thats both bases covered

im going to try up some pickys soon as this should show the pins and springs position for assessment and information

i thank you all kindly for your opinions plz keep and eye out for my pickys and voice your views

all the best

Jay

will edit to inc pickys in the next 1/2 hour or so p1010242fi0.jpg

Well done , their aint many shooters who go for it, looking at the photo,s lookes as if the grunge could be exerting too much drag on the pins when firing, you havent replied to my advice on the PM I sent you so that , rules out the hard primer suggestion. keep at it bud bet you crack it in the end.

Many thanks for your replies i really appreciate them

Gordon R there slightly different one has a rebate for a spring the bottom one lol

im thinking its a combination of week main spring and crud on the firing pin and also in the pin seat/chamber combined with all that crud and oil its prob dragging

realy badly

also berettaman1 has pointed out theres a possibility of hard primers and recessed primers

so my plan of action is new springs clean pins try a few boxes of diff shells and see how i go on

Again many many thanks

around £40 from litts 2 main springs and a bottom striker inc tiny return spring that looks like its out of a bic pen

SO i will get the pipe cleaners and white spirit out and clean the seats as advised by litts apparently all guns are prone to crud in the pin seats and result in the odd misfire

litts where very good tbh and did advise i would not need both strikers and in there opinion i prob just needed main springs @ £8 each but i got the pin anyways

as it it marked and shows a slight bulge @ the end better to do it now than whilst its in bits ...

I most likely could have found the parts for less but for time and convenience ya cant knock Litts

Gun repairs anyone

had a look @ the leaf spring type i think i still would have a go

my next project will be my other 1/2s Silma supreme thats got a issue that irks me slightly she is fine with it as shes used to it

The problem with that one is the Latch travel !!! its quite a way !! , and its got a temperamental ejector that i think is a result of the latch but time will tell

i will be stripping that as soon as im confident mine is fixed ???
