Roaring Stag at the rut.

Firstly apologies for the low quality pic from the phone

Managed to sit for 1/2 hr watching this fella roaring at the rut. It is the most amazing sound !

After 10-15 minutes he had called his harem of 10 hinds and calves into the field, each time he was sniffing them and grunting very low. Then I saw 3 young stags trying to pluck up the courage to go into the field and try their luck, but the big fella kept on bellowing away

I have never seen this before except on TV and it is amazing. I was back in the same area again this morning to get the switch I had seen and he was out there in the field in darkness bellowing away, thank goodness no-one lives within 3 miles of here as it would be hard to sleep through. He eventually led the ladies back into the woods and still carried on roaring, however it echoes well in the woodland and made it even more special.

Hope to find a codec for the film clip so I can post that as well.

I shot my first Red stag during the rut last year, exactly one year ago this weekend coming.

It was a truly unforgettable experience and certainly got the adrenalin pumping.

I've been invited back this weekend to try for another one so, fingers crossed.

Good luck catching up with the switch, hopefully before he injures another beast.
