  1. I might have misread but I wouldn't use a SAK mod (for rimfire) on a centrefire!
  2. I quite like that! Couple of observations though... 1) I wonder why they didn't make the magazine longer to the end of the barrel like with their 1894 rifles? 2) I can understand the cylinder choke for slug but cylinder with shot in a .410 will give god awful patterns at anything other than very short range which is why it is usual to see full choke in a .410!
  3. I have a pajero too. What I do is lock the stock in the boot using one of those plastic coated steel cable locks through two of the anchor points in the boot and the trigger guard. Then I put the barrels and fore end into the gunslip and take into the hotel room with me. That way there is no complete gun anywhere. Back up close to a wall too if you can so the back door can't be opened. I know the seats fold down dead easy in the Pajero but it's one less entry point to worry about and it will mean they won't have easy access to try and overcome the cable lock. Take your certificate in with you too, and preferably any ammo. I usually don't inform the hotel unless for some reason I have to take a complete gun in with me (like a rifle). Them knowing doesn't increase the security any so there is no point in telling them really. If you do need to take a complete gun in then it is probably courteous to tell them, and probably a good idea if they have a strong room or safe to put the bolt/fore end or other vital component in it so again the gun is disabled.
  4. Especially if the guy does something dangerous or upsets a member of the public... the police will think it was you!!
  5. Excellent, glad you got it sorted! Out of interest, when you say the POI moved, do you mean with/without the mod? Or with the new bushing? It's just I can't work out how you got the mod on before if the bushing was 2mm too small! Or were you using it without the bushing? My .243 drops 2" without the mod on at 100yds whereas my .223 seems virtually unaffected!
  6. And you only posted an hour before the closing time you jammy sod!
  7. LOL! Well it doesn't really matter what the unit is, the result is always going to be a 'mad women's breakfast' to someone. Twelve foot and quarter inch is no slower to mark out than 3664mm Regarding marking out at 1cm:1ft, your accuracy is going to suffer. Assuming you can draw perfectly and read your rule at ~1mm accuracy you could be +/- 1.2". That is enough of a gap in the floor of Cranners' garden shed to let 12g cartridges through. The consequences are unimaginable!
  8. The key is preparation... you can see Mr Nitro Express knows what he is doing, his weight is well forward. The poor victims of the .577 have been stitched up and don't know what is coming... some of them have the classic newbie posture with their shoulder behind their hips. Most of us, if we were blindfolded and told it was a .22, would probably have the same reaction!
  9. Ok people... you can stop replying now... all our names won't fit in David's hat!
  10. This is one of my bugbears too! I placed an order with bushwear for various bits and pieces and it arrived in 4 different consignments over a period of 3 months!!! You can sympathise with the smaller retailers, especially with reloading gear, because it is so diverse everyone wants something different (apart from .223/.243/.308 die it seems!) so they can't carry too much stock or they will have £££ tied up in stock that doesn't move. BUT... It should be law that you have to make clear which items are out of stock! (Yes I know we can just ring up and ask.... but that means having to to talk to people and defeats the whole ethos of onlone shopping! ) It's one of the reasons I use MidwayUK so much... it says what is available from stock, and those that aren't in stock it gives an estimate of when they WILL be in stock. It's worth the extra few days wait, for me at least, to know which items are being delivered in stock. Ok, the parcel tracking (with Parcelfarce) is useless, no information comes up until it is basically delivered.... however they have never let me down and they have the most diverse stock.
  11. Does anyone know how often SmartReloader get new stock in? They have a great website, and ordering online is so convenient etc.... however it seems many of the most popular items (anything in .223/.308/.243) are permanently "Sold Out".
  12. Blimey, that's a beauty! Congrats!

  14. Indeed sqrt((8.5^2) * 2) = 12.02082 feet = 12' 1/4" OR, if you like trigonometry... As both sides are equal, we know that the angles are each 45 degrees, therefore Hypotenuse = 8.5/sin(45) or 8.5/cos(45) which = 12.02082 feet = 12' 1/4"
  15. There have been so many threads about the DI recently but still the burning question eludes us... precisely who does the culling they propose? I don't know anyone who stalks for the DI, and none of the stalkers I associate with know anyone who does either! No one ever pipes up and admits to being a member of a local DI 'Deer Management Group' and there is no specific information on their web site either. It's bizarre. Do 'they' (whoever they are) simply take out paying stalkers, who are unaware that they are in fact working for the DI? I think the lack of communication makes the whole thing more sinister than it perhaps is (I hope!) but you would think that someone would step up to explain! What I find particularly objectionable is the inference in the press (at least twice recently that I can think of) that recreational stalkers are unable or unwilling to manage the deer sufficiently. This when we all know for a fact that there is a massive surplus of stalkers who are desperate for just such an opportunity. I think, on this aspect alone, we all have a duty to make sure the press, the public and landowners understand this. Write letters in response to inaccurate articles, talk to landowners and the public and make sure the organisations who we pay to represent us get the message! In the meantime, if you represent the DI, please communicate with us!
  16. Anyone shooting Podimore this Sunday (100 English Sporting)?

  18. I have an absolutely mint .410 pump It's like new trainers though... they don't look right until they have been worn in!
  19. On both my beretta O/Us the model number is engraved on the base of the action, somewhere in front of the trigger guard.
  20. The link I posted above shows a picture of the different choke types. From the description of your gun I would say it is almost certainly mobilchokes.
  21. Here you go http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/ind...mp;#entry432164
  22. Is this up and running now? It was still in the 'we are thinking about running one' phase when I spoke to a BASC guy last year. I told them at the time it was an excellent idea so I'm glad they have decided to run with it!
  23. Given the other guys from South Wales have had such quick turnarounds I'd get onto them pronto!
