  1. Hi, I am looking for a good quality folding knife. I have a buck 110 at the moment, but find it a tad big for my liking. I don't dress anything larger than a pheasant. I was thinking about the Puma range. Has anyone else any suggestions. Thanks BB
  2. Beretta 686 E 28" Barrels Beretta S687 29" barrels (Limited edition engraving by Bogetta C Giovanelli. No. 94/100 made) Beretta 301 30" barrels (trap gun) Armas Garbi Eibar SBS (28" NE) Saving up for a 687 EELL BTW why oh why are Beretta only importing guns with the nasty varnished stocks? Give me an oiled finish any day.
  3. Energy = 1/2 M x V^2 where M = mass V= velocity if you are aiming for 12ft-lbs from both .22 and .177. Because the .177 is lighter, it's velocity has to be greater. The only way to do this is to make if fly faster either by a stronger spring or higher pressure.
  4. "if they choose not to disclose this what are they doing joining the forum in the first place. afterall they must have something to hide or an alteria motive for coming on." It's well known that Antis scour thses boards. Adding private info leaves yourself open to attack. I haven't anything to hide myself. I just prefer to remain anon. I don't see the big deal myself.
  5. I've got a beretta 301 I use for pigeon shooting. I bought it second hand for £300 and it's never given me a problem. If you don't mind the strange multichoke collar then it's an excellent gun for decoying. I bought the trap version but I can shoot pigeons better with it than my sporting 687. And for the money I paid you don't mind taking it down to the marsh. regards BB
  6. Columbus Polumbus, The link I attached is not an item for sale but rather a DIY alternative to an electronic flapper. If you want a real laugh look at the hate mail on the page ... v funny. It’s Vegetarian by the way Regards BB
  7. found a cheaper alternative... http://www.crowbusters.com/dl1.htm
  8. I am looking for a pecking crow. Does anyone know where I can get one?? BB....
  9. Hi, Can anyone help me. Each month sporting gun produces a feature called 'well used' about second hand guns. I am looking for one on the beretta 686 or 687. can anyone help me? Regards Derek
  10. I still haven’t heard back from my own MP (Hugh baily Lab.). I did a bit of research and found out that he is a vehement opponent of foxhunting. So no surprise really. Recently I was passed a magazine by a colleague called ‘American Hunter’ it’s a primarily deer hunting magazine for anyone who’s interested. One article described how the NRA (National rifle association) actively campaigned in elections against those politicians who were against its aims (Some of the Californians were trying to reinterpret the 2nd amendment, the right to bear arms). The article clamed that no politician they opposed was successfully elected. This got me thinking. I wrote to my MP on the issue of foxhunting (which I don’t do BTW) and the pompous **** didn’t even have the courtesy to reply. So how do I know what his stance is and whether I should vote for him? Therefore I think that the BASC should consider quizzing politicians before an election (maybe a questionnaire) to find out their views on fieldsports. Also before I am flamed, yes I know that there are a lot more important issues, but when a government spends more time debating foxhunting than protecting children from paedophiles then it’s really asking for this. 11. Salmon fishing (fly) on the river Tweed (dryburgh beat) closely followed by the Tay (Taymount/stobhall). I use a 16' Bruce and Walker norway speycaster. I've never caught that much but it's much like shooting. It's good just to be out. On a side note the Ghillie at Dryburgh is a close friend of mine and appears in the Barbour cataloges all the time. he's the only one with the beard! http://www.barbour.com/product/category.asp?cid=16 BB
  12. Just faxed mine using hammerguns link. I'll let you know what he says... BB
  13. Daily telegraph 26/02/03 The future of game shooting in its present form was in doubt last night after MPs voted to ban the use of terriers by gamekeepers to flush foxes to guns or to kill them underground. MPs on the standing committee of the Hunting Bill voted by 19-5 to support an amendment by Michael Foster, the anti-hunting MP, banning the use of dogs underground. Shooting bodies and Opposition MPs expressed surprise that Alun Michael, the rural affairs minister, was among those voting to amend his own Bill. As drafted, the Hunting Bill would simply have required gamekeepers to obtain a licence for terrier work. Nearly half of all gamekeepers in England and Wales are estimated to use terriers to control foxes.
  14. Express pigeon specials are fine. I tend to use slightly heavier loads up to 32g for the majority of my shooting. I've never been a great believer in cartridges makeing a whole lot of difference. It's the person behind the gun that counts.
  15. From what I remember most of the top guys including Faulds don't even have a bead on the rib of their gun. Most coaches will tell you to forget about the sight and focus on the target. The easyhit is a good training aid if you are having problems with your master eye. If you don't have this problem forget about it or any other sights and focus on the target. BB
  16. Supergame, Enjoy your new gun. Just remember the usual rules about cleaining and maintenance anit will last you a lifetime (and probably a bit more). I take it you went for the sporting version. Did you get a good deal? mine was £925 from York Guns. Regards BB
  17. I have one of these on my Beretta 686E. I have a slightly stronger left eye although I shoot from the right shoulder. It's helped 'train' my right eye to aquire the target first. BB
  18. I have a 28" multichoke sporting 686 E. I bought it last year. It's a very good gun that can be used for a variety of disciplines. I have used it for walked up pheasant, driven game, pigeons and clays. The action is very fast, in that the gun is great for snap shooting but maybe not as good for long crossing birds (with my style of shooting anyway). This maybe due to the length of the barrels as I can hit them no bother with my 30” S687 (not the silver pigeon but previous model). The furniture has a polyurethane coating and is very easy to maintain. The gun has been generally reliable. The only problem I have had is that the recoil has failed to switch from the fired to primed barrel on two occasions whilst shooting clays. This may have been due to my poor mounting technique, as I was relatively new to the gun. The style of engraving isn’t to everyone’s taste and I think that it’s OK nothing more. Regards BB
  19. Make no mistake shooting WILL BE NEXT. Don't forget the anti movement pays peoples wages. Do you think that people will willingly go on the dole just because hunting with dogs is banned? No they will focus on the next item on the agenda.. probably rearing game for shooting (this is already banned in Holland). As for IDS he was on the countryside alliance march along with William Hauge (who was next to me). If there were a credible alternative to Labour tb would be quaking in his boots at the moment. O One last thing the labour party vowed to ban ALL blood sports in the 70's. Thay don't have the guts to do it in a one off so they are doing it piecemeal.... Death by a thousand cuts! If you value your sport at least you'll know who NOT to vote for in the next election. BB
  20. I fish for salmon and Sea trout on the Tweed in Scotland. I have heard that the Eden is a productive river, some of my friends go there on occasion. As for files I like a teal blue and silver for ST and an allys shrimp for Salmon. BB

    joke

A German guy approaches a prostitute. "I vish to buy sex vit you" "OK" says the girl, "I'll charge 20 pounds an hour". "Ist goot, but I must varn you, I am a little kinky". "No problem" she replies cautiously, "I can do a little kinky". So off they go to the girl's flat, where the German produces four large bedsprings and a duck caller. "I vant you to tie ze springs to each of your limbs". The girl finds this most odd, but complies, fastening the springs to her hands and knees. "Now you vill get on your hans und knees" She duly does this, balancing on the springs. "You vill please blow Zis duck call as I make love to you." She finds this odd, but figures it's harmless, and the guy is paying. The sex is fantastic. She is bounced all over the room by the energetic German, all the time quacking loudly on the duck caller. The climax is the most sensational she has ever experienced and it is several minutes before she has recovered the breath to say: "That was totally amazing, what do you call that?"…… "Ah", says the German, "Four-sprung duck technique"
  22. The usual sentence for carrying an illegal firearm is non-custodial. As for the Birmingham shootings, it's a shame that people have to die in this way, but were they really all that innocent? I see that the police want to talk to one of the girl’s half brother about the shootings, he has conveniently disappeared. As my mother used to say fly with the crows. Get shot with the crows.
  23. Getting on the train from York to Darlington. I saw large flocks of pigeon hitting the rape. 200 odd birds per flock
