  1. Answer given already to original question as yes. Then answer given for sweat box experts as Ladbrook and Langton plus their website. However in order to alter a stock you have to know what to tell the gunsmith. Hence advice to get some more help. Hope that helps.
  2. Good idea if you are experienced enough to have a perfect mount each time, but, I understood the OP to be newish to the sport. So still in the tricky learning period. It will all get sorted out in his own time. Dave has given him the good advice, a bit more cast, now he just needs to get it done and try it.
  3. See my previous post- Langtons (If you are not familiar with them, the full name is Ladbrook and Langton and link is here http://www.gunrepair.co.uk/contact.php/ )
  4. Sorry to add more to this thread but if you are giving suggestions your prices are way out, and I do not want the OP to get confused.I posted fact on work I have had done in sweat box and also with stocks made in Italy on various guns. I also have an Evocomp, and depending on how much cast is needed the Evocomp might not be an option (either way, they are not cheap, £1800 before extras like orthopaedic grip) and cannot be fitted on all types of guns. If wide chested, that one is not a good option as it cannot get effective cast. You do not get cast from just altering the butt pad left or right. As I mentioned earlier you can effectively bend adjustable stocks in a sweat box without fear of breaking the stock. Especially as the OP thinks it needs only a small amount. This is a cheap, quick and effective option. The OP is best placed to see an expert rather than Googled advice. Just my opinion of course.
  5. Hi all. You can put cast on or off with adjustable comb guns. I have done it on 2 Mirokus. It goes in the sweat box ...bent to what you want....jobs a goodun. If it is done properly, it does not return to original positions. I have also had cast taken back off 2 stocks made at Essevierre.....again both adjustable combs....because I had them made with too much cast. (Langtons did mine) Unicad. The point is that when doing any of these technical alterations to stocks, you really need to know and understand clearly what you want and how much change you need. The worker will only do what you tell them to do. From what you have put on here i think that you will need help. Can i suggest you go and see a gun fit expert rather than take views from people who you do not know on a forum. They may not be able to hit a barn door at 10 paces. Many talk a good talk but cannot walk a straight line. As far as coaching goes, there are many times that a lesson can involve technical discussion time or pattern plate time and few shots taken at targets, if, you have specific problems to understand or adjustments to be made. It is not all banging away in the general direction of a clay and hoping to hit one. For some who have been sold unsuitable kit, it is all about helping them to get it right.
  6. Like. .....True story Puuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuulllll
  7. Could it be scanned Phil and sent to Ron?
  8. Now Ed. He is obviously man of considerable shooting experience. Just a bit worrying that if he gets lost on a forum I fear for him out in the countryside where big fields look the same. Hope he finds his way back to his off road landy because it is a thankless task carrying all those flasks of coffee and butties
  9. Pigeon Pete no insult intended at all, just thought that you sounded female and about 14 years old, or are you on some sort of medication. I simply explained that in some disciplines gun up is not only essential, but the only way to shoot it successfully. However if you just want to plink away then that is also fine, you pay your money you make your choice. The fact also remains that good shooters can manage not only both ways but generally can pick up any gun and shoot with it, irritating as that may be. Bath time now! Not you, I have 4 other little tots to deal with since their mother passed 2 years ago.
  10. Peter, a reply of sorts to your Olympic coaches that are Olympians themselves, let's see. Peter Croft, Ian Peel, Richard Faulds, Ahmed Al Maktoum, Peter Bentley, Richard Brickell, without starting on other countries like Italy. Does that help? Of course I would not expect a BASC coach to know that, as you rightly say, there are no Olympic pheasants in the mix at the moment. Ed is quite right that these elite coaches would not be expected to have loan guns, the people that go to them are wanting to shave off the odd point that they miss in competition rather than someone whose personal best is 15/100. But then I could be wrong.
  11. Correct. I throw a brick at the telly when those trendy poncing chefs call it 'sea bass'. It is bass. Do you ever hear 'sea cod' or 'sea haddock', not at all because we don't want poncing when eating a fish and chip supper. It must be a southern thing.
  12. Gun up or down makes no difference if you can shoot. If you cannot, then stick to what you are happy with. Some clay disciplines would have you at a distinct disadvantage if you were gun up, like Olympic trap or double trap for instance. Pigeon Pete are you really old enough to possess a gun licence or is your experience gained from going with mother?
  13. Who assesses the assessors! Take the cpsa for example. the academy, what a joke, small group of people making a nice living off the back of everyone else. It is run by a closed club always know in the past as the gang of 4. It has been relaunched many times and the only thing to change is that the names of the gang. Now led by one who was previously kept out of the club who is not up to it. They are not interested in quality of instructors, only quantity of courses put through in order to hit funding targets of new instructors. Retired or unemployed so nice little earner. They know that poor shots like and want to wear a badge. There is no track on any of these jokers once they are let out on their own to pray on newbies (because anyone other than a new shooter would recognise their faults instantly). Worse ones are those who talk confidently about rubbish or those who shout at the client when they cannot hit the bird or those who do not have good memories and contradict the **** that they talked the time before. To top it off, there are insured as part of their membership package. Occasionally a good one comes through. Apsi are worth their salt. Could be why the likes of RBSS and Churchills only Apsi. High paying clients sniff ******** quicker.
  14. Basc and Cpsa can coach someone to win big? Can they? You are having a larf. Most are wearing loud skeet vests with big signs on the back, presumably in case they get lost, or they wear the matching skeet vest sets, like the shooting version of a Masonic lodge. I once overheard a basc/cpsa muetant giving a lesson, who when asked what the 28grms on the cartridge stood for, replied, the amount of powder. Best that they stick to game fairs and newbies where their skills are not challenged too much.
  15. Maybe the clue is in the title. CPSA / NCSA World Sporting Championship. If you want English Sporting to go global then you need to play in the other league. ICTSF. Biggest load of rubbish ever set up. Main countries who shoot English Sporting are US and us. That is the historic situation. It is ok to say take it global but few other countries are interested.
  16. Play dough, now you are talking. What sort of animals and how many can you get out of a normal slab? Snakes are my favourite but try not to leave them down the barrels. It could get awkward.
  17. Is this 'still' going on. Ha ha. I parked at supermarket between two cars last week and came out later to find both cars gone and Adolf with his parking clip board waiting for me. As I approached he started whinging about parking across the line. I explained about the other cars but Adolf was on a roll about big 4x4 car drivers. Decided that a very loud **** off was in order. Did the trick nicely :-)
  18. Dr Evil.....ooooooooooh.......scarey! Question though. Do you have to take all that **** off when you give the Landy back to your Ma?
