how tall will peas grow before pigeons stop feeding on tem? I am shhoting over late barley with peas interspersed for high protein silage. Also the farmer told me that when the barley starts turning brown the pigeons dive the crop and flatten. Is this true and is it good to decoy over it when they are doing this? jimDfish

I have been given permission ot shoot a couple of fields on private land although there is a footpath running down one side of the fields. My line of sight to both ends of the path is at least 3/4 of a mile so I can se people coming from at least 500m either side. the footpath is 200m from where i would erect my hide. Is it legal to fire a shotgun on these fields when they are empty of walkers? jimDfish

I have just joined NPPC myself and live quite a bit out of the area in which the shoots are. In principle I would love to people to post on the site good shooting areas. The thing is are any of us willing to share a really good tip and let others reserve the field instead of us? Probably a better man than would, so send us your locations. I shoot rough with a baikal MP153 which are about the same money, 3.5" mag and as everyone knows it is hard to break a baikal. The stock is not great ( short as in all baikals ) but I have shot clays and pigeons with it, got it covered in sh#t and still it keeps on going. It may be an idea to look at one of these before purchasing the escort, which does look good but may not last as long Good shooting JimDfish

My NPPC membership arrived and a add on at the bootom of the bumf says that I can turn off any gas gun as long as I switch it back on. What is a gas gun and how do I switch them back on? JIMDFISH :blink:

I have just caught my neighbours kid ( he is not all there im sure ) leaning over my fence firing one of those crappy air pistols that fire out the little yellow balls. I could not understand why my new puppy was so gun shy until I saw him shooting at Her! I went mad and his mother came out complaining that the "gun" was only a toy and could not hurt anyone. Does anyone know the law concerning these as I am pretty sure that even is the gun is not illegal in criminal terms he must be commiting some sort of tresspass. i did speak to his dad and offer to take the pair of them out and teach them some gun manners, but the father only sulked as his son did.

I race pigeons and shoot them which some find strange. It is fair to say though that if a pigeon does stop on the way back from a race to feed with ferals it is a burster and would get necked at some point anyway.

As a "newbie" to the sport and someone with a lot of holidays still owing i am trying to fit my time off around the best pigeon shooting. I am a member of the NPPC ( have not recieved my membership pack yet) and i dont know what i will be shooting over. is there an overall best month in which to target pigeons and if so, which month is it. any replies will be greatly appreciated.

Went out today for the first time after getting the nod from the farmer down the road. one pigeon all day, but dont give a monkeys, it was my first pigeon with a 12 bore and I am going again tomorrow. I am shooting in a valley with crop on the ground and large trees flanking the field on both sides. Tonight all the pigeons seemed to be flying west. Does this necessarily mean that in the morning they will fly east aftyer roosting? I assume they were flyinf west to roost

make your own magnets using windscreen motors from your local scrapyard. Less than a tenner and an alarm battery does the job just as well :(
